"A Life Less Ordinary" Appreciation Thread #1: Ewan Can Kidnap Us Anytime!

This is an appreciation thread for the Ewan McGregor and Cameron Diaz movie. I think this is the first Ewan film I remember watching.

I thought it was quite funny, and doesn't Ewan sing in this one too? Or was that just Cameron? I DO know that they sang, though...

I have to watch it again.

I only saw the movie once. I thought it was sort of weird but it was still good. I like how Ewan sings and the end credits had the clay figures. was it clay?

I own this movie! I saw this movie after Moulin Rouge, but I loved it a lot. I love that his goal in life was to write a trashy novel There are so many great scenes. When he picks up the robot that is replacing him, and throws it at the window and it bounces back

"Look daughter, I got your *******" or something like that. or when he is hurt he says don't take me to a hospital, and then when Cameron Diaz's character says she isn't he says "I demand to be taken to a hospital!"

I've read a few reviews of this movie and a lot of people liked it. I think it's really underrated.

Oh I love the part when he calls the wrong number and he's telling a women "No I don't have your daughter....I'm sure she's very nice". I thought it was funny how the person on the line was trying to set him up. And then Cameron Diaz hangs the phone up. I have to watch this movie again.

I suddenly have the urge to watch this movie again.

I haven't really had the opportunity to rent or buy this, but it looks like I now have more than a little incentive to do so. I remembering loving this movie when I first saw this, though the part with Holly Hunter was... eh?!

I love the phone booth scene with Cameron trying to get him to be mean and assertive. And then, of course, the wrong number and the lady trying to fix him up with her daughter.

My favorite thing about the movie? His accent!

This movie showed that Ewan can do comedy.

was Morgan Freeman in this too?

No Morgan Freeman wasn't in this one, it was Delroy Lindo, but his role did remind me of Morgan's in Nurse Betty..kinda.

this is from oewnaynailf:

Okay, I watched "A Life Less Ordinary", and I am confused about the ending because I'm stupid. lol (not really!)
1)In the end, why didn't Robert die when he got shot? Was it because God saved him? (Why did she shoot him in the first place?)
2)What happened to the two angels? Did they die?
3)Why did the angels kidnap the girl after the poem scene?
4)Why didn't the two go to jail for killing the father and the other guy?
Most likely, these questions will have obvious answers, but I just don't really get it.
Oh! Only five more weeks until "Down With Love" comes out!!
1. If I can remember, I believe the angels, Holly Hunter and Delroy Lindo's character were sent to Earth to help these two find true love. So Ewan was saved by God's angels, in order to make the relationship happen.
2. The two angels completed their tasks, and were sent back to heaven, or did they get another chance at life? I forget.
3. The angels kidnapped the girl to prove to her and to Ewan's character that he truly loved her. He didn't write the poem and she didn't believe that he loved her.
4.I can't remember who you are referring to. It's been awhile, so I can't remember who died. If it was Cameron and Ewan's character you're talking about killing the people, I guess God saved their souls or something. I dunno. Perhaps someone else could explain that one for me

here is a good description of the plot from imdb.com

Ewan McGregor stars as a cleaning man in L.A. who takes his boss's daughter hostage after being fired and replaced by a robot. Two "angels" who are in charge of human relationships on earth, offer some unsolicited help to bring this unlikely couple together. The "angels" are so successful that the daughter soon turns on her father in order to save her captor.

Yeah, it's out on DVD. I think the only extra is a trailer.
