It's funny that Christian/JRM didn't have scenes together, yet Arthur originally crushed on Brian.

^I always find it funny when people work together on a film, but never share any scenes. I wonder if they meet up just to say, "hey, we're in the same film" or if they don't meet at all.

If they do a lot of promotion and then the premiere, I'd imagine they'd meet somewhere along the way.

Be very weird to say, "Oh yea we were both in this film, but never met! Well nice to meet you!"

I think it's sad when actors are in the same film but don't actually get to work together. Esp when it's actors I like. I want to see them in the same scene.

Although Arthur was at the concert that Brian got shot at. Maybe they hung out between takes.

Good point! They definitely met each other BTS then. And, as Steph pointed out, they probably had to promote the film together as well.

And, hopefully, they also had a really fun cast party.

If I were in that picture, I would insist on standing right between Ewan and Christian. So I'd have both of their arms around me.

And then I'd ask Ewan why he has a big leaf pinned to his sweater.

the photo comes from the 52nd Edinburgh Festival Launch Party (Aug 17, 1998). So the leaf may be about that?
