One of my students last year lost his mother to cancer, and he still came to school the next day. He never missed a day. Would school be on your mind if your mother died during your teens? It wouldn't even cross my mind.

No way would I go into school. My grandmother died when I was in elementary school and I went in. but grandmother is different than mother.

did he go in to take his mind off what happened?

She was dying from cancer for a long time, so he probably had already dealt with it long before she died, and maybe was relieved to see her no longer suffering. :shrug:
