It was

And they did a really good job with connecting the dots as Gandalf did come & go in the original short book as well...

Wait random.. why is there individual threads for the Hobbit movies, and then this general thread?
Or well... looks like the first Hobbit movie thread was turned into this thread? Orrrr?

I think there are 3 different Hobbit movie discussion threads, but since so far I only managed to rewatch the 1st one completely, I've been posting here mostly, and did not look up the thread about the 2nd movie itself...

So I've been kind of using this one as a general Hobbit trilogy discussion thread too... but not really...

Yes, well spotted, it looks like this thread is misnamed. I think we will find all kinds of errors to correct on this board. Perhaps I should start making a list!

Having thought about it I think this thread could become the general discussion thread in the board guide and we could do a new thread for An Unexpected Journey.

I have reread the hobbit and then of course I had to rewatch the hobbit series

tbh, I do love the hobbit movies more than the book and I am totally ok with all the changes they have made/added.

also I really do not understand the hate towards hobbit series, it is ridiculous! some fans are just ridic imo, they do the same with thr RoP and it is stupid. Hobbit series is a masterpiece as LOTR series is! I love it so much!

I will post to other threads as well and comment a bit, but this is it for now

(PS: I think we need a movies general discussion thread )

I can see some of the issues with The Hobbit, but I don't hate it, there's lots to love about it. The editing perhaps should have been tighter. More story and characters was needed really, it's a short children's book, I can't disagree with those being added in.

(we need a general movies discussion thread)

I love the Hobbit movies as well, and while the original book was rather short, the extended movie adaptation is justified due to the additional material taken from the appendices...

... stuff that "the hobbit" Bilbo didn't know about... all he knew was Gandalf appearing & disappearing during his adventures...

The more I rewatch the hobbit movies, the more things I can appreciate - it is a masterpiece as well...

(I agree, that's three of us.)

Yes the extra stuff with Gandalf is awesome. I love all that stuff.

I love the barrel scene too... it is off but it is also perfectly fiting, and a cinematic masterpiece at the same time

That's also true... but far from being the most annoying scene...

Legolas & Tauriel in superhero mood is fun to watch

They are wonderful

I remember the first time when I've seen all 3 films - I didn't want to like them due to the extended nature of it compared to the original book - but couldn't resist the story or the characters
