So are you saying Galadriel is technically significantly older than him?
I mean... I would think they did age, but maybe at a slower pace? Cuz we did see them in the movies and they ofc seemed somewhat older.

Yep

In canon, official First Age version Galadriel was already married by the time Elrond got born as Earendil's son, and decided to become an Elf, instead of becoming the first Numenorian king (that option was chosen by his brother).

Even in the Amazon version Galadriel is older than Elrond, as Elrond has no memory of the Blessed Realm...

We don't have a Fanvid thread, but I think this fanvid is doing justice to younger Galadriel, and ROP:

The "music videos" bit put me off, but will keep it in mind...

... I think the video summarizes many of the admirable qualities of younger Galadriel...

... We just need Celeborn to turn up in s2 to make the picture complete

Yes we should perhaps rename the thread.

Yes we do need to see what happened to Celeborn.

I loved the video so much

Will we say "Young Galadriel"?

(for example, in the Bridgerton board we have a spin off for the character of Queen Charlotte, it's a prequel so we have Young Queen Charlotte and Queen Charlotte threads (and same for other characters too) so it would make sense for me )

or write (Second Age)?

Elves do age differently. Humans in LOTRverse also do age differently but Elves do age faster mentally but slower physically than humans. And they simply have three cycles for Childhood and Adolescence, Endless Adulthood, Old and Weary years. That is why between each other the physical appereance is similar with the same cycle. I mean if two Elves are in the second cycle they do seem at the similar ages with each other even tho they have hundreds or thousand years of age between each other. Elves also do age with events that effect them not with years. It's written that they do not reach puberty and adulthood until between the ages of 50 and 100. After age 100, elves do not, as a rule, physically age at all. However, the sorrows and toil of Middle Earth grow on them while they dwell there, and a desire to depart to the West grows in their hearts.

Why it takes attention when it comes to ROP but not LOTR movies then? I do not understand. Hundred years is nothing for them even 1000 years is nothing for them

Quote:
While the three cycles are not specifically defined, the first cycle is likely childhood and adolescence, which ended at the 100th year, the second is adulthood which could continue for Ages, and the third is for extremely old Elves; Círdan was the most ancient known Elf in Middle-earth. However, Elves who were not ancient could enter the third stage sooner due to tragic life events. When Lúthien wilfully released her spirit to follow Beren, her father saw her die, and "a winter, as it were the hoar age of mortal Men, fell upon Thingol."

Apparently, beards, though rare, were the only sign of further natural physical ageing beyond maturity.

Elves did not physically age after they reached maturity, but they did age in a different sense than Men. They became ever more weary of the world and burdened by its sorrows. Círdan seemed to be aged himself since he is described as looking old, save for the stars in his eyes; this may be due to all the sorrows he had seen and lived through since the First Age. He had been one of the Teleri on the Great Journey who tarried on the shores of Middle-earth for Thingol's sake, and at the Valar's behest, though he had greatly wished to go to Aman.Another aged elf was Gwindor, the people of Nargothrond had trouble recognizing him after he escaped from being a prisoner of Morgoth in the pits of Angband for fourteen years

Here's a very detailed article about it on reddit as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/RingsofPowe...d_and_isildur/

I think Young Galadriel is fitting, and given the events of the 2nd Age it makes sense that both Galadriel & Elrond would age notable by the enf the Age...

The 2nd Age was a lot more challenging on them... even in canon 1st Age Galadriel had a minorish part in most of the conflicts of the 1st Age, as she was mainly in Gondolin, but she wasn't managing the place...

I almost feel like the odd one out here Since I don't really know a lot of lore, and like.. what happens in the books.

Did Galadriel ever have any other romance? Aside from Celeborn
I'm curious too who they'd get to play that role for this series

It is ok

Elves fall in love and marry once in their lives Monogamy is practised. So, Galadriel only fell in love with her husband Celeborn. And they have a daughter called Celebrian (who will be/is the wife of Elrond). So Galadriel is also the grandma of Arwen

BUT, it is like really pitty for the show I hope Celeborn is cast with a great macth too. I am sure they won't make her cheat her husband BUT ALSO IFFFF Sauron decieves her as Celeborn who would say NO to that?

let's hope that they will find a Celeborn who has chemistry with "our Galadriel"... as I'm still hoping that ROP will try to stick with the book-wise endings...

Yes let's hope so I do wanna see their relationship so much too. So, I hope he is matched with her in every way

Also, I guess they wouldn't want that backlash for making Galadriel cheat on Celeborn They get backlash for stupid things anyways so in this part they'd stay all true to the canon I guess

There would be a backlash if that happened I'm sure.

probably

so many fans(!) didn't know she is a warrior this scene for instance was amazing and defined specifically. Wish we could see Numenors giving/gifting her with this armor scene too. nevertheless, great scene indeed!
