I would love to see the actors in something else playing a couple, as I don't qant a Sauron & Galadriel pairing as that would be too OOC compared to lotr-verse. no matter how wonderful chemistry these 2 have

Yes, but I think he was aware that other people would get satisfaction from making their own stories in his world. I think that's why there's such an interest still today.

Yes, he left a blank-enough canvas to fill in the gaps between the 1st & 3rd Age, which he truly established...
... They made Sauron to be a slightly less completed character in ROP, but probably due to not having rights to the 1st Age material at all... that's why they made him out to be a sorcerer "only", and moved his "kingdom" to the South, as they couldn't refer to the lands that were lost after Morgoth got overthrown... __________________

Well, they can mention him but not his complete role & past.
Same as we got a reference to Beren & Luthien in the 1st episode, but we will never learn about them taking back one of the Silmarils from Morgoth - or of Beren being held a prisoner by Sauron... It's just a pity that I enjoyed so much the chemistry of Galdriel & Halbrand in s1... __________________
