It was certainly... original.

I don't know: It had a lot in common with the "Geordi turns into a black-light lizard-man" episode in TNG.

When I was a kid Geordi always creeped me out when I saw him on TV... must be the fact that we can't see his eyes most of the time And yes, I know... kinda OT

Making his eyes invisible was a dumb move, because the actor has very expressive eyes.

Well he was without the visor in the later films. And there's cast photos and anything else he's been in, like Roots.

Agree that Geordie's visor seemed a bit strange. Did we ever see a character wearing glasses? __________________

No, because he was born blind.
Actually, that kind of makes me think: Surely by Geordi's day, the tech would exist to make genetic modifications in utero. B'Elanna had some serious wrestling to do with the idea of "editing out" any Klingon features from Tom's and her daughter, and much of that story focused on whether or not to make the change (as opposed to how possible such a change might be). Voyager is mostly concurrent with the TNG time line, which makes me wonder if Geordi's parents (both accomplished professionals) didn't have the option of addressing his blindness before birth, or chose to let him develop as God/Nature intended? I've gone round and round on another forum about whether parents of deaf children should be forced to have their child given cochlear implants, because I feel strongly that they should not. It probably goes without saying that I was gratified when B'ELanna chose to see the beauty inherent in her daughter without any "customization." __________________

Me too
I had a huge discussion about PID recently. It's not the same, but a similar direction. "Should we do all that we are capable of doing?" __________________

It would definitley become a slippery slope. As Kia says, just because we have the technology to do certain things, doesn't mean that we should. __________________
