I know they're doing Blu-Ray releases of the orginal series so I'm sure it's just a matter of time before they release the other series.
I'll have to look tomorrow and see if I can find any info about the various Trek series being released in Blu-Ray.

I think only the remastered first series is being released right now.

I think you're right. I can't find anything about any of the other series.

I figure the new movie will revive the Trek on DVD news though.

Hopefully. Maybe they'll put on the existing series on sale to help generate interest.

Could very well do that, it would be nice considering all the sets are really still very high. I always wondered why they were so expensive.

I've wondered that myself and come to the conclusion that it must be greed. To me, DVD sales are just icing on the cake ... especially with Trek which has been in syndication around the world for years.

They do have several extras, but nothing earth shattering.

The extras usually aren't. Out takes don't cost anything. Maybe they have to pay for an interview with a director or writer, or an actor to commentate on an episode, but for the most part, the production costs should already be paid for.

Can't say that I've been overly impressed with any of the extras I've watched.

Well you have interviews and so forth, honestly the series with the best extras that I've seen thus far was Enterprise. Might be because it's newer and now television shows do things for DVD releases whereas they didn't years ago.

That would make sense that now they might film some of that type of thing as the series is airing because they know that they'll want it eventually. It would probably be much more difficult to get actors from series that have been off the air for a while involved.

Yep, although I'd love some cast commentary for various episodes. A Picardo/Ryan commentary on "Someone To Watch Over Me" would give me a thrill, lol.

Yes, something like that would be nice and would add some interest to the episode.

After so much time had passed, I wonder how much the actors would really remember of their motivations for acting the scenes and such?

That's true, sometimes I think they need to do commentaries throughout the season instead of all at once you know.
