And then there's the cliffhanger ending. Star Trek should be better than that, it doesn't need to stoop to low tactics like cliffhanger endings for seasons, like something you'd get in crap like Smallville. I felt the cliffhanger as a slap in the face and an insult. It's supposed to make you want to watch the next season. It makes me want to avoid the next season.

And these Gorn, totally changed from what they were in classic Trek, they're a cheap ripoff of the Alien franchise. I HATE the Alien franchise. Nasty, mindless crap. We don't need that that in Star Trek. Give me the Gorn from Arena that fought Kirk any day over these new Gorn.

I've liked many episodes of SNW and I like the cast, but the overall background mentality has worried me and now it's come to the fore. It's the same dark, negative mentality that dominated Discovery season 1. Discovery season 2 was better than season 1, but the same mentality was in the background there too, in the foundation. The only new Trek I can embrace wholeheartedly is Picard and that's gone. We'll see what Legacy is like, if it ever gets made. For now I'm seriously thinking of abandoning all Trek shows that are rooted in this pseudo-pre-TOS era. SNW, Discovery and any spinoffs they generate. I can do without them.

They're not likely to be reptiles either. Reptiles are an Earth development. Nothing on Star Trek is realistic and asking it to be is pointless.

And anyway, the Gorn have been around since long before SNW. They were in TOS and Enterprise. But they were a lot different there.

Great season finale but again a cliffhanger

Thought Gorn sounded familiar but haven't seen enough of TOS and forgot most of the 4 seasons saw of Enterprise

I'll probably come back to SNW when it comes around gain next year or whenever season 3 comes out, but this has permanently reduced my respect for modern Trek.

It would be equally unlikely for alien life to be reptilian, seeing as reptiles are an Earth development related to mammals and thus to humans.

The cliffhanger really pissed me off.

Her point was that humanoid aliens were not realistic. My point was that reptilian aliens are no more realistic.

Maybe not, but at least reptilian aliens are a departure from yet another humanoid species.

It's not like the Gorn are this great new innovation. They were invented about 60 years ago and reptilian aliens are an old cliche.

Nice seeing Scotty pop up.

In regards to the Gorn I need to watch more TOS sometime for reference... but it took me a long time to accept the changes in the look of Klingons, so I could see why someone might have an issue with the change in the look of these.

Same. I loved it. She was the only one on there that survived though?

I mean, other Treks have done cliffhangers in the past... I remember Scorpion Part 1 quite fondly of having to wait to see what happened next... But in the case of Strange New Worlds, I guess what bothers me more is the shorter seasons and with that comes a longer wait until the next season starts, probably 7 or 8 months (generally half that for other Trek shows in the past).

A friend of mine mentioned the cliffhanger... I'm just glad they showed Nurse Chapel alive at the end there, part of me was wondering if they were going to end it without us seeing her again.

I hope not cause I like Nurse Chapel is she meant to be the same one that Kirk had a son with in TOS we see in Wrath of Khan than a Klingon killed "David" if my memory is correct in The Search for Spock

My knowledge mainly is with the TOS movies never done a full watch of TOS just random reruns as a kid where was more into The Next Generation and especially Voyager

It was only earlier this year or late last year that gave DS9 a chance and regretted not seeing it earlier -- its probably right up there with TNG and VOY Enterprise was alright

I hope not cause what's his name, the doctor he intrigues me and love the fact of a Black Dr where TNG is the only female doctor than you've got Captain Janeway this far the only female Captain

Related to "Commander Sisko" can't remember that much of the 90s if there was still racism like there is today still :irk:ed
