True. The franchise made their women strong before it was fashionable

Exactly. They were always portrayed as independent, capable, competent and self sufficient.

Exactly! They all earned their ranks, and routinely demonstrated that they deserved to be there.

Mary Ann Chase tribute

I wondered why Mary Ann Chase didn't have any printed comments to make in the two Star Trek magazines I read after Leonard Nimoy who was Jewish passed away. I may have found out why because she didn't want to become associated with being someone who played on Star Trek. What did impress me about her was that she became a Christian. To many Star Trek fans she's known as Grace Lee Whitney. I do like the way she became involved with helping people overcome addictions. There are a lot of ways to become addicted to things that may not involve work at all. Rich people can seem like cashaholics if they have more money than they know what to do with. When you hear celebrities with bathroom mouths saying words for money or whatever; but as she said on a show with Maury Povich, you can hate the sin, but not the sinner. I don't like being led to believe that a celebrity's stage name isn't the given name because it sounds like a form of deception. I.
God bless, Jason Scott Irelan

Actors change their names for a variety of reasons. There might have been somebody with a similar name already registered, so perhaps she wanted to differentiate herself.

Mary Ann Chase / Grace Lee Whitney passed away April 1, 1930 – May 1, 2015. Nimoy passed March 26, 1931 – February 27, 2015. Perhaps she wasn't well at that point.

I've edited the last part of your post. It's offensive and not relevant here.
