The chemistry is there, only that they aren't given the chance to play with it. :(

Developing other relationships wouldn't suffer if these two could be given 20-30secs of intimacy. I'm not asking for much!

Yeah i must admit I'm surprised that there wasn't more on them in Beyond..

They were in separate places for a good part of the storyline. I really enjoyed the focus on the Spock/McCoy friendship in this film and thought that it was high time they had more interaction.

There's not much point to telling her, she would still wear it, Spock's mother did.

I watched the movie and I liked it and I LOVED the spock/uhura in it

the necklace  and we see his protective side and how much she means to him. It's really lovely.

I agree though that it left me wanting more. It seems like they sacrificed them a bit to give space to male bonding and male characters and I don't like it. (Uhura is more interesting to me than most of the secondary male characters anyway :P)
I understand that original trek was all about the boys and their friendships, but these movies are another trek and we have this relationship too now. We're not in the 60s anymore so kissing scenes or even more shouldn't be controversial anymore.

Also, wasn't Uhura the third lead of these movies? I loved her in this movie and she made an important great contribution to the plot but it seems in this one they gave that role as the third lead to McCoy and Scotty instead and they get more screentime than her (especially with Kirk and Spock) Bad, bad, bad move! We're in 2016, this is really going backwards.

wickedrum 07-30-2016 08:36 AM

Yes, I felt like Uhura didn't have much screentime at all. We had another female, that's good, but I missed seeing Uhura's way of being and reacting.

they really should make use of having each member of the cast have ample screen time

 And Spock seemed to think that the radiation was negligible.

Personally, I didn't think Uhura was short changed, just that her screen time was on her own, or with Sulu or Krall. She was the one to detach the saucer section when Kirk failed to reach it, and tried to send a distress message when they were captured.
