All too easily, not least by Akiva Goldsman, who hinted criticism of Kirk by saying certain Trek captains before SNW had toxic masculinity.

I think Shatner can come across as a bit full of himself. He over acted a bit, and had an unique way of delivering his lines. Still, both those things contributed to Kirk becoming an iconic character. As to the "toxic masculinity" jube, to me, that portrayal was in accordance with the time. Men were expected to be manly, a captain/hero even more so, at that point in time.

He probably is a bit full of himself. But he somehow makes it endearing. He's a prize character.

Yes to that , but as you said with those, he did make Kirk his character..

In my opinion, that set would be nicer if the artist toned down the brightness. Good variety of expressions capturing some playful moments.
