Banable Offenses - needs something better
- 1) No advertisements, chain letters or pyramid schemes are allowed on our forums. Solicitation of any kind, including direct linking to events such as charity auctions, is not permitted unless it’s pre-approved by the Management Team.
- 2) Links to other message boards or pornography are not permitted. These actions are known as trolling. Posters engaging in this type of behavior will lose their membership rights and be removed.
- 3) Be respectful. Not everyone is going to agree with you at all times. It’s perfectly fine to disagree with someone as long as it is done respectfully, but do not attack other posters.
- 13) Please don’t register multiple accounts here. Using multiple accounts here can result in the loss of posting privileges for all of your registered accounts.
Conflict Resolution- 4) If you have a problem with anything or any person at Fan Forum, please do not deal with it on the board. Send a Private Message (PM) to a Moderator, a Moderator Manager, a Website Manager, or an Administrator. If you have a problem with a moderator on one of the boards that you post on, send a Private Message to a Moderator Manager describing the problem. Please do not contact one of the co-moderators of the moderator that you're having problems with, as it is the Moderator Managers' responsibility to resolve disputes between members and moderators in a fair and impartial way. You can also send a Private Message to the person that you're having a problem with directly if you do not want to involve the Fan Forum staff.
Posting Etiquette - something about respecting appreciation threads?
- 5) Before starting a new thread, look to see if there already is a topic discussing the same thing. Duplicate threads will be closed down. Also, please make sure your thread title accurately reflects what the thread is about.
- 6) Do not post in all caps! That's considered Internet lingo for yelling. If a thread title or post is typed in all caps, it will be edited or deleted. dO nOt PoSt LiKe THiS, eItHEr (this is also known as sticky caps). Also, don’t abuse the privilege of being able to post using different font sizes and colors, or your post will also be edited or deleted.
- 7) Don't bump threads, or post solely to increase your post count. This is called “star posting,” and doing it can result in the loss of posting privileges.
- 10) Do not post the same picture over and over in a thread. Don't quote pictures - if you quote someone, please edit out the image before submitting your reply. If you don't follow these rules, your picture(s) will be deleted.
Also, please note that when you post pictures directly from another website, you’re basically using that site's bandwidth. Every time someone at FF views the picture on our boards, the owner of the website that hosts the image gets charged for bandwidth use. This is known as "bandwidth theft." We would prefer it if you'd post a text link to the picture using the [url] tag instead of displaying the picture in a post using the [img] tag, because then the owner of the website only gets charged for bandwidth if people click on the link.
- 11) Please do not start a thread asking how to post a picture or use other vB code. We have a Questions & Answers board and a Newbies board where members can go for help and support; please take any questions you have about how the boards work there. We also have a FAQ thread on the Questions & Answers board where you can find out information about this website and your account here.
Fan Fiction could maybe be grouped with spoilers under one title?- 8) You can open fan fic threads on the individual message boards here, and you can link to fan fics in these threads, but the only place you can directly post fan fics is on the Fan Fiction board.
Spoilers- 9) No spoilers about any new or current television shows are allowed on the television show message boards, and they should only be posted on the Spoilers board. Information is considered to be a spoiler if it details something that has not yet been broadcast anywhere in the world. Promos that have already aired are not considered spoilers. Do not post any unauthorized direct script excerpts on the Spoilers board.
Spoilers are allowed on the Male and Female Celebrity boards as long as the spoilers are limited to information about the character that the actor or actress is playing on the television show that they’re on, and they’re not about the overall show. Spoilers on these boards should only be posted to discuss the upcoming work of the actor or actress, and they must be posted in separate topics and be clearly identified with the word Spoiler in the title. Spoiler threads for upcoming movies, like the Star Wars Series, are permitted on the Movies board and the Star Wars board, as long as they're clearly identified with the word Spoiler in the title. Spoilers should not be discussed on the general threads on these boards.
Signatures - Customizable Options > Avatars & Sigs > offensive pictures, phrases in avatars? - 12) Signatures should be limited to a maximum of four lines of standard font text, or six lines of small font text. Large font text should not be used in signatures. Links to other websites are allowed in your signature, but links to message boards that are similar to the ones here at Fan Forum are not allowed. The maximum amount of smilies allowed in a signature is four.
