^ As I noted earlier, even though they appear to be purely Episodic, Serialized Procedural series still do need to be watched in a specific order, although that fact sometimes gets ignored by broadcasters and so you end up with continuity issues.

He had such a good character arc in the series!

I really enjoyed his friendship with Miles.

Waldfrau 11-23-2021 10:15 PM

Yeah, that was cute and funny!

They seemed like such different personalities, but both really enjoyed getting in touch with their inner child on the holodeck.

I just finished rewatching Q-Less and Dax, and have a few thoughts:
* It's a shame Q never returned to DS9 because he honestly worked better there and on Voyager than he ever did on TNG

* Vash also really should've returned to DS9 because Jenifer Hetrick and Armin Shimmerman had fantastic chemistry together

* It's a shame that the DS9 writers goofed up on the Stardate for the episode Dax because it really does need to be viewed in the order in which it was produced and aired, and having an accurate Stardate placement would've made that fact unmistakable
* Rewatching the arguments and conversations that were presented in the episode about the Trill made me realize that the rules governing joining may have changed pretty drastically between the 24th and 32nd Centuries since it seems like Gray, a 16-year-old, was considered a viable candidate for joining when Jadzia had to wait until she reached her mid-20s before she was judged to be viable.

Gray does seem pretty young to be a host. I remembered Jadzia saying something about having to wait, but didn't remember how old she was when she started the process. Did they ever say how old Ezri was when she became a host?

Jadzia was joined to the Dax symbiont when she was 26, two years before she was assigned to DS9, and she got all four of her degrees while preparing to be Joined.

If we treat StarTrek.Com's listing of Ezri's year of birth as being 2354 as Canon, she was 21 in 2375 when she was bonded to the Dax symbiont, but the difference between her and Jadzia is that she (Ezri) had never planned on being Joined.

It seemed to me like the Trill Elders were expecting Gray to have been the current host of the Tal symbiont when Adira turned up, which suggests that the age requirement rules had changed pretty drastically by the 32nd Century, but they didn't specifically say anything to confirm that and so we can't say for sure.

Hmm...do we know why Grey was chosen as a host? Could have been the circumstances like in Ezri's case.

I didn't get that impression myself, but it's possible.

Adira's joining was definitely circumstances-based, and they wouldn't have remained Joined if Michael hadn't been with them and all of the Elders had been steadfast in their non-Trill biases.
