Animated Star Trek - The Animated Series (1973/4), Lower Decks (2020), Prodigy (2021)

is the animated 'star trek' series from 1973 which ran for 2 seasons,a continuation or did it complete the five-year mission of the U.S.S. enterprise from the original series?

I never watched it, so sorry, I'm not much help. I found this in an old thread:

It was executive produced by Gene Roddenberry, and produced by D.C. Fontana, who has been with Star Trek from it's very beginnings. Being animated, the series could boldly go where the original series could not. It was able to show more exotic aliens, spaceships, and planetscapes then possible in live action. It broke new ground, won an Emmy award, and it left a lasting impression on the Star Trek universe. It also kept Star Trek alive in it's lean years, between the original series and the movies.

A late reply if I may. The animated series was a continuation of the original 5 year mission begun in the original live-action series. There are some fans who count both animated series and the novels as taking up the final 2 years of the original mission. Hope this is of some help.

It is. I've watched a couple of episodes, but mostly I remember back in the eighties when you might run across a rerun of it. I do wish they'd put M'ress in a movie, now that it can be believably done

I've actually seen the animated series for the first time when it came out on Blu-ray.
I got this wonderful box with postcard designs for every single episode!!

I must say, this show is way better than its reputation. Once you get into the style of the animation you'll get hooked.

I am currently re-watching the series. I'm on episode three now.

Story wise there is nothing left to be desired, that's for sure. No wonder, were most of those scripts meant for the new Star Trek TV Show back in the day I believe.

The animation if 70s obviously but I have to say it has such charm, it's a pleasure to watch it.

And the HD transfer is beyond belief. Just flawless.

Good to hear that you enjoyed it. The thought of it being animated doesn't appeal to me at all.

Woah! The colouring and art is so classic Trek.

Maybe put it behind spoiler tags? I wouldn't know how to resize it ether.
