[Strange New Worlds] - 2:05 - Charades

A shuttle accident leads to Spock's Vulcan DNA being removed by aliens, making him fully human and completely unprepared to face T'Pring's family during an important ceremonial dinner.

That made me curious as well, will this be fixed by episode end? Though the ears I imagine could likely be made to look like Vulcan ears through other means.

I enjoyed this episode, another from me

- nice to see the crew helping Chapel with her information and interview..
- Pike has definitely got his chef hat on in this episode
- Spock not looking happy at TPrin'g's mother appearing..
- Oh Spock just got a shock
- Did like Doc and Pike scenes trying to help Spock come to terms with what has happened to him
- Who knew Spock liked bacon
- at the crew telling Spock how he talked
- seeing Amanda again
- T'Pril's assistant likes Pike's cooking
- Good to see Uhura and Ortegas telling Chapel about her feelings for Spock..
- Lovely scene with Spock telling T'Pril about being human and what Amanda went through..
- Spock and Chapel

I thought it was well done exploring Spock's human side and also him realising what his mother went through on Vulcan

from me ..

I loved watching tonight's episode. Ethan must have had a blast, getting to basically play Spock "out of character" in a way that it's okay.

Loved the Spock and Chapel scenes... they both put themselves at risk to save the other.

Loved that the entities were able to help, weird that they were able to give the treatment in the form that they did, if there was any leftover you'd think they'd be able to study how it works.

I wonder if Spock will continue to like Bacon or will he not have the scent for it anymore? Love the speech Spock gave about being human, though surprised that there wasn't more questions about if he was stuck permanently that way. Granted we weren't in that ceremony that much longer after that reveal.

Loved Chef Pike! Liked how Chapel handled the Vulcan on the chat, that they weren't ready for her.

Feel a bit bad about T'Pring, but she had a point that he didn't feel comfortable in telling her while he involved pretty much everyone else in it. I'm sure her mother will be happy about the time apart/space.

I wouldn't mind seeing Spock have bacon for breakfast

Really liked Chapel putting the Vulcan professor in his place

LOVED this episode!
- so many great moments of the crew hanging out together
- Spock wearing a hat to try and hide his human ears from his mother!
- Sam's messy eating driving Spock nuts!
- Spock's reaction to the crew coaxing him on his normal speech and behaviour
- Spock realizing how much Amanda has put up with over the years trying to fit into Vulcan society
- Pike really loves to cook. And Spock chowing down on bacon
- nice focus on Christine too. Her determination to find a cure for Spock, and realizing she didn't need the approval or validation from the Vulcan science academy guy.
- finally Spock and Chapel kiss

Mixed feelings about this episode. It was funny and I appreciated the Spock/Chapel stuff, but I'm not sure I'm keen on what they did with Spock.

Definitely different to see Spock as fully human.

It was nice to see the friendships between Christine & her crew mates.

I will say, the "Awareness Ritual" part of the episode, I thought was really cruel. I watched this episode with my husband and I remember, looking at him while watching and thinking, I can relate to the ritual bluntness and cruelty of the ritual.

Done with love, it might have been productive. As you say, T'Pril was just using it as an excuse to be cruel.

It's not supposed to be like that right? Just T'Pril made it like that because she's not fond of Spock

Also... how many romantic relationships is Spock supposed to have??? Cuz the whole T'Pring, then this stuff with him and Christine.. then isn't he also supposed to get with Uhura at some point?
Honestly I think I'm the only one who can live without the Spock/Christine stuff. I find it off that he's already with T'Pring and yet he wants to also be with Christine? Does this mean him and T'Pring are going to like officially break things off?

The Uhura relationship is in a completely different universe to this universe

The T'Pring relationship has background in the Original Series. I've always thought of it as like an arranged marriage, not a match made by personal choice.

As Tracey said, this is a different timeline than from the movies that gave us Spock & Uhura. I didn't expect to like the Spock and Christine relationship in this series, but find that I'm buying into it.
