Really good eppy, it was Star Trek Aliens style and also

- Lovely start with Captain going full cook mode again
- Spock doing the washing up and Singh liking the Captain's food.
- Lovely toast by the Captain and liked his giddy smile when the Ensign got made to Lieutenant
- The Hemmer/Uhura scene was wonderful, you could see the friendship and respect they have for each other.
- I really liked the Doc/Singh scene as well, as we don't get many 1 on 1 scenes with them
- Oh my it is Aliens time, those Korn are
- Spock channelling his anger
- So those Korn don't like the cold..

- No, NOOOOOOO

- it was cute seeing Pike's excitement about the promotion. Nice comment to Uhura giving her a confidence boost. @ him telling Spock to do the dishes! Then referring to the away mission as taking a road trip
- Hemmer's the only one who appreciates the wintery environment on the planet
- some nice Uhura moments in this eppy. Her realizing that she needs to decide what she wants to do with her life. Loved that she was the one to realize that the alien was protecting something. Also her interactions with Hemmer
- good moments between Spock & Chapel
- creepy Gorn interesting touch having a few bits from their point of view chasing the humans
- Hemmer!!!
- lovely tributes from Erica and Uhura
- hmm ... I wonder if La'an will be back?
- overall a good episode. Creepy by times, but not nearly as bad as I feared from the preview clips.

Good episode, but why the hell would they kill off hemmer already before season 1 is even over?? That makes zero sense tbh. They could have killed him off at the end of seaosn two if that was the route they wanted to go with the character, but killing off a main character before you even get to know him is more like lazy writing.

I hope so, bc if not she'd be the second to leave and I just don't like it i they rip apart a family that is just about to form.

When tasha yar and dr crusher were both gone from TNG after season 1 the show suffered from a character point of view tbh. Don't want the same to happen to this show.

It just felt so out of place to do that in the first season, unless the actor did not want to be in the show for more than one season.

I agree. Hemmer was one of my favourites. I was really looking forward to seeing more of him. Especially loved his interaction with Uhura

While it is realistic that they are in dangerous jobs, and that it's realistic to have characters die, it's hard to see it happen

Yes same here, him and La'an were my faves of the new characters and he's dead and she's gone now. Which is sad tbh.

I wanted them to visit andoria in season 2 maybe, see his family.

Honestly, La'an never made much of an impression on me.

It would. I'd love to see some flashbacks of Hemmer.

They could have some sort of funeral on andoria for him with his family and friends from there perhaps. This way we could see the world and his family.
