The cooking party looks fun.

It does! A good way to introduce us to the crew.

Thought this was another good eppy

- Lovely start with the Captain's table
- The Uhura/Spock/Hemmer scene was good
- Did like the way the table went quiet with Uhura's no. of languages..
- Ok I'm becoming a fan of Ortegas
- Good to have a Uhura episode
- Enjoyed the Captain/Number One scenes esp. the ones in his quarters
- Uhura noticing Chapel flirting with Spock
- Enjoyed the Spock/Uhura scenes and him giving her some confidence at the end..
- Good to see Pike is still wrestling with his PTSD and told Number One about it..
- I like the comet storyline...

All in all it was and I really like the mixture of characters in this eppy. Yes Uhura was the main, but they really gave all the characters some scenes in this episode, really pleased with that

Thought this was a terrific episode

- the first scene on the planet made me think of the Jawahs on Tatooine in Star Wars

- Captain's table is a great concept to show the crew relaxing together off duty. Poor Uhura wasn't expecting the hazing. She speaks 37 languages?! Woah. Enjoyed getting so much background about her. Pike actually drying dishes at the end!

- Nice camaraderie developing between Spock and Uhura. Good that he was honest with her that if she's not sure Starfleet is her calling, she should step aside. Then at the end telling her she has what it takes to be a good officer

- realistic for Uhura to be so nervous and showing her feel the weight of being the one they're relying on to decode the alien egg.

- @ Pike's reaction to Ortegas naming an evasive maneuver after herself

- good continuity showing Pike still struggling with his knowledge of the future

- Pike is proving to be a great captain and I really like what we know of the crew so far. Looking forward to getting more background regarding the other crew members.

Me too! This show seems to be getting back to the franchise's TOS & TNG roots in the nature of the storylines. Also, I'm really liking the mix of established and new characters.

Interesting concept, but no explanation for how the comet can predict the future!

I'm liking the use of more female characters than there was in the original show. The set design is very clever too.
