For me though, it is funny that Patrick said at the very beginning, he doesn't want the show to be like TNG, now look where we are..

Maybe feedback from the fans finally got through? I can understand that he wanted to do something different and not feel that he'd stepped back in time but completely ignoring the established past wasn't the way to go about it.

I do too and yeah I wouldn't with the 2 seasons I watched..
