Another ok eppy.

- Glad to see Commander Nhan again :), and finding out about what went on when she was away.
- Looks like Saru and the Ambassador might start dating ;)
- i have to say I'm not really into this DMA or whatever it's called storyline, not an interesting storyline for me.
- Good bridge crew scenes
- Lovely scenes between Saru and Culber, we don't get many scenes with them, so it was good to see, esp. Saru asking his advice about dating..
- I find the Michael/Book stuff boring..

Chris 02-18-2022 08:51 PM

- really nice to see Nhan again
- oh ... looks like a personal relationship is developing between Saru and the President
- liked that Michael insisted on being honest with the crew about Nhan being there to make sure she didn't let her feelings for Book effect her judgment
- enjoyed the focus on Reece & Bryce
- Saru showed some skills diffusing the argument between Michael & Nhan
- Michael's multiple spore drive jumps to avoid shooting at Book's ship were ridiculous. Her feelings are definitely clouding her judgment.
- @ Saru asking Hugh for dating advice
"with respect sir, in my professional opinion, you're being an idiot. Connection is always worth risk."

There have been better episodes this season

Good episode again. So the DMA can just be rebuild so quickly.

I find book a rather boring character, he wasn't needed tbh.

Waldfrau 02-20-2022 12:25 AM

Yeah, good episode!

I feel the same

Waldfrau 02-20-2022 06:15 AM

I suspected they only built him up as Michael's love to have them break up later.

Chris 02-20-2022 06:53 AM

 Quite the surprise that the DMA could rebuild so quickly.

As to Book & Michael, I didn't expect them to last this long. Other than having been thrown together by circumstance, they don't seem to have much in common. And while it's implied that they're in love, they seem more like friends to me.

Had to cross post this

Yes that is the usual unnecessary love drama that you really don't need in such a show. Star trek sometimes has these annoying love stories that feel a bit forced.

For the most part I've enjoyed the romantic relationships on the various shows. They can help add depth to characters and help show them as complete people, not just in their professional capacity. On Discovery Hugh & Paul's relationship has been well done. As to Michael & Book, I just don't see the chemistry.

Waldfrau 02-20-2022 11:07 PM

Yeah, Hugh and Paul's relationship is very well done!

I'd be ok if they just kept the hugh & paul one and have no others tbh.

Chris 02-21-2022 12:34 PM

Agree that they don't need too many couples on the show. They need to keep the focus on exploration and adventure, not romance. Having said that, I do feel that seeing the characters off duty adds something.
