Yup, sometimes you don't know how much someone means to you until you are faced direct with it. It was really the first time he was truly able to see just how much he'd do for her. And for her to see how much someone cared for her.

I do believe the Master and Angelus did though.... lol but she couldn’t really probably see that being soulless and everything. Being human and having a soul makes you sad things different and for that to come from Angel has to be shocking.

I think that, in that moment, she meant that someone cared about her as a human, she had never seen much value in herself as a human, & I think that Angel willing to die to save her life, helped her see that she did have worth even if she was just a person.

Yeah... because you are right as a human she pretty much had a sad worthless life to herself.

So she pretty much never felt valued and love until obviously Angel who fought for her life and honored to stay by her until the end. No one ever loved her as a human or anything so yeah... that was a big moment.

She sure did but also remember it was written as 2 former lovers at the time it aired... and clearly after it got changed from it never being love.

In that episode it clearly was written as Darla us to love Angel so much and couldn't understand how he could fall in love with a slayer...
