I was rewatching some of their scenes and I just love their story so much and during each watch I appreciate Angelus/Darla relationship probably even more than Angel/Darla's.

I guess I just loved how Angelus cared for Darla on a level that he really wasn't capable of caring for anyone else with because he was souless.
Darla was the one who taught him everything he knew and she would have been the only one he can tolerate to be with forever.

He promised her the world, the perfect view and I just loved how he got tortured instead of giving up Darla's location.

The thing about Angelus that was so complicated... and even Darla was that they both did not love. That was the main thing we was told that they didn't love because they didn't have a soul HOWEVER, their actions showed so differently. lol

Darla had a tough time really moving on from Angelus. She tried to do everything to get him back, even accepted him with a soul and she never could kill him.

With Angelus, he was soulless but he'd go through the hells of depths to be by her side and protect her and make her happy.

So it was just confusing. lol

Especially the whole love with/without a soul because Spike started loving Buffy WITHOUT the soul and we are suppose to believe that Spike/Dru loved each other without a soul.

So, the rules is what complicated me the most.

They were no rules, the writers just made did what suited them imo

But I agree, Angel would deny it, & they never said 'I love you' - although they said a lot of things that had the same gist - the actions were definitely there

Yes they did and we mentioned it a lot of times and I personally wasn't a fan of all the rules changes depending on who the character was.

I agree. With Angelus/Angel & Darla most of the things were there by their actions and how they were to each other and them being together for over a century. They had huge moments that felt like, "I love you."

Showing ILY is sometimes better than saying the words. Especially in the case of these two.
