& she never moved on, she pretended to, but she always wanted Angelus (or Angel, if he just went bad with the soul) back

Yeah although she REALLY wanted Angelus most of the time.

Because of course they were both equally evil and with Angel he was different.

Except for when he first got his soul and still wanted to remain by her side but he couldn't live the lifestyle she wanted and Angelus obviously could because he didn't have the soul to guilt trip him or anything.

Yeah, she didn't just want him to be there - she wanted him to be what he was. But I think there was a part of her that just would have accepted Angel if that was all she could have...

I was watching a couple clips from Angel (the btvs ep) today, & that's why it's on my mind

She wanted him to come rule in the Master's court with her, even if he was still Angel

I don't think Angel and Darla would have worked in the 1900s because Darla wouldn't have accepted him. Because he never would have done all the evil things she was use to Angelus doing.... I mean she even wanted him to kill the baby and he couldn't.
Angel probably would have eventually killed Darla in the early 1900s or something. I feel her evilness would have driven him more insane and in guilt. So, he had to part from her. She was just too evil....

I do agree she would have wanted him to rule the Master's Court with her. And I guess she probably had 100 years to accept that he still has a soul.

Yeah, I think at that point, it was just that she'd rather have him as Angel instead of not having him at all

I don't know if he would have killed her - until Buffy came along, he didn't seem to fight against evil at all. He knew it was all going on, & he tortured himself about it, but just never did anything. I think that the more evil he saw Darla do, the more Angel would feel sorry for himself

^ I just don't see how their relationship could've survived like that though. The only way it was working was because of Angel lying about killing people. And keeping them from Darla... but of course Darla knew that... so don't see how a relationship like that can work.

And yes, 100 years later, I think she eventually learned to rather having Angel than not him at all even if she had a preference.

Even during our live watch a few months ago, I think we can pretty much agree that the time when Darla FINALLY fully accepted Angel for Angel was during the Trial episode. It was the first time she really called him Angel, instead of Angelus and accepted Angel in the same way she always accepted Angelus.

I agree, I do think Darla would have been in a certain amount of denial for a while, but eventually would have gotten too frustrtaed with Angel to carry on.

I agree that human!Darla accepted him though, I think that after The Trial, if they had the time, she even could have loved him....
