But for me, it's The Toy House. I think it really shows perfectly, for the first time, just how far Michael is willing to go to prove his love for Maria. He made the napkin holder by hand instead of using powers because she made a comment about him not being able to deal with things like a normal person would. He chased her the whole day out of concern for her feelings and was clearly interested in pursuing her again. Then there was Maria, who, no matter how hard she tried to resist him in the aftermath of The Balance, gave in when he put the napkin holder in her locker with a note thanking her, like she wanted. She kept the napkin holder instead of using it because the gesture meant so much to her. And there's the confrontation at the end, where he uses the stonewall speech as a metaphor for how he really feels about her, and there's her not being happy with it, but understanding it, because she understands him.

ITA :nod: That's why Toy House is one my favourite episodes from the season and a general deviation from the norm in this relationship. Michael rarely did the chasing in the beginning.

Nat:hug: Very true. And it's one of my favourites, too. As far as Candy goes, this episode really takes them to another level. We see different aspects to both characters, but especially to Michael's in terms of how far he's willing to go to prove himself to the woman he loves.

Yeah and I love the stonewall bit. It really explains Michael's behaviour. and just the fact that he was willing to let her in enough to explain himself shows a change.

Have you ever read Masques by KLyn? It's a great Stonewall Michael fic. And she has one of the best characterization of Michael as well.

Yep, Michael gets to the point when he (reluctantly ;) ) actually decides to talk about his feelings.
