Richard Castle, roguish best-selling author, is the consummate man's man, ladies' man,
and man about town - nearly as well known for his tabloid-generating antics as for his immensely
successful novels. With two ex-wives in his past and his
fifteen-year-old daughter and live-in mother watching his every move, his life is
never short on drama. But now, having just killed off his most famous
character and with his publisher ex-wife breathing down his neck for his next
book, he's in desperate need of inspiration. When Castle is pulled in by NYPD
Detective Kate Beckett to advise on an investigation, he discovers his next muse
and a new calling. Turns out all those years of research for his crime novels paid
off. Castle now has the opportunity to use his unique knowledge and skills to
help solve murders, much to the chagrin of Detective Beckett.

Kate Beckett is a tough, smart homicide detective with the NYPD
-- a first-class investigator known for being a closer. She's also gained a
reputation as a detective who's intrigued by the "freaky ones,"
the sort of cases that don't fit neatly into a box. It's a reflection of her
ongoing quest for justice. Having joined the force after the murder of a loved
one was never solved, she has a rare ability to empathize with the victims and
it's this that fuels her unceasing drive to capture the people responsible.
Forced to work with Castle, she's at first frustrated by his presence but over
time begins to appreciate him. Even though he drives her crazy, she knows
they make a great team.

TFNT okay this is totally off topic BUT after the ep on Monday and how Kate survived the bomb blast I have been really curious if it really is possible, I don't know if You guys watch Mythbusters but I just posted a submission for a episode idea *smirks* Not that I I'd try it out or want to be in a bomb explosion but I'm curious to know how much of that was based on Fact or if it was just amazing writing?

No, it's true. You can survive it like that, specially since the blast seemed to have taken mostly the living room and surroundings. Of course the level of survival/harm depends on how strong the blast is, but genrally it's possible

Olivia, bringing here the convo from last thread, since you said coffee symbolizes their relationship/progression, what do you think Castle spilling coffee on her shirt is supposed to symbolize?

I think it's possible to survive like that. The one thing that seemed strange was that, yes a few seconds went by between the time she answered the phone and the apartment went up, but how did she have enough time to run down the hall, close the bathroom door and jump in the tub before it happened?

The moment as a whole showed a big shift in their relationship. Had he spilled coffee on her even a few episodes earlier, she would have killed him. Yet, she didn't even seem mad. All she did was thank him.
So, in a sense, I think that incident helped symbolize that there was an upset (I mean this in the "unexpected shift" sense) in Kate's feelings towards Castle. He drenched her coffee, and it was around that episode that she began to realize she felt something for him. (Plus, the episode after that was when we saw her actually be jealous.)

The episode before that was this scene --->

There she's happily watching him make her coffee, so that could represent that she was still observing Castle and that she's inclined to approve of him, but that she's still trying to decide exactly what she feels about him.
So maybe it "hit" her in the next episode, and that's why they had him spill coffee on her.

It makes sense actually

And by now she takes coffee from him and he doesn't even have to offer. She went from rejecting to accepting to taking. The only logical next step is giving, and you know what that means

Yep.

I saw the episode where he buys the espresso machine for the precinct last night. She goes from ignoring the machine's presence ("I think my phone's ringing") to drinking her coffee that tastes like "a monkey peed in battery acid" while every one around her is sipping espresso to turning down Castle's espresso offer ("What do you have against foamy goodness?" "It annoys me.") to trying to sneak a cup while no one's watching (like we know she secretly delights in Castle's presence.)

It all fits.

They better keep using the coffee, I just wonder what else they can come up with

Also, the coffee at her house sucks, Castle was going to fix it, the coffee at his house is the best, more underlying here!

It is perfect. I'm a coffee/espresso addict, so I absolutely love the metaphor.

She had a Bodum coffee press, though (you can see it all the way to the left, bellow the Paris sign: http://gallery.mailchimp.com/f39df4b...partment_8.jpg). They weren't using that in 2.17 since he mentioned a filter, but that at least makes good coffee.

Ooh, I wonder if Castle's saying he'll order her a new filter later (and consequently giving her good coffee, again) was hinting at the fact that he soon would be giving her a home while she finds a new one? That might be over analyzing.

*laughs* on the Mythbusters thing, what I meant was Yeah I kind of figured it was possible because it is similiar to when you go into a door way or under a table during a earth quake things don't fall on you because of this it keeps you safer what I meant as more like what Olivia was saying how not that much time passed and also what you were saying Andrea how she only had a hurt wrist what My question was had been is it possible to do that in that amount of time and come out basically uninjured *shrugs* I say It could but then again but that's just my opinion

okay so I just got word back from the "mythbusters" forum people and they just told me something similiar was already tested on the show and that NO the amount of time she had and the fact she wasn't hurt wasn't really plausible ,so In away I did get my question answered but Dag Nabbit IN MY mind it IS still possible.
