I was at least hoping he had sum more nice things to say and announced one of the performers.

I guess it wouldve been a bit too obvious if he wouldve sung one of her songs.

I'm s-o-o-o-o disappointed in the Grammy tribute, but to be honest, I did NOT expect much--and we DIDN'T see much in terms of quality entertainment, IMO.

CBS Miami -- Better job

OK, so I watched the post-tribute news segment from CBS Miami, and I'm less hot than I was last night. Last night's report, which wasn't from an affiliate, but the flagship network station. I'm pressed for time (heading to a seminar this morning), so I couldn't find the video on the main Web site with a quick scan. That bugs me, too.

• It didn't give context for Kevin Costner's interview, it zoomed in on his face while he was looking serious and giving the less-flattering quotes, and like I said, it blatantly said that Whitney's family begged him to do the tribute. I guess the New York market is so competitive that you have to resort to low blows on two widely loved and admired performers to compete for viewers on a Friday night.

• This was unnecessary, for the point I just mentioned. People generally tune in to watch most or all things concerning Whitney Houston or Kevin Costner, and when you have such an intriguing link between the two, well a program is sure to get decent numbers.

• It would have been nice to at least see Kevin in the audience, if he was at the tribute. IO must say, though, that I enjoyed the closing number from Yolanda Adams and CeCe Winans. I've always loved that song. Usher and Jennifer were also highlights. And Celine did my favorite Whitney song and did it well. So much of Whitney's music was uplifting and inspirational. She sang about love, life and hope. She was unlike these current artists who wallow in greedy materialism, pettiness, promiscuity, etc. Their music glorifies a race tot he bottom, but I think people will always want to come back to how Whitney, and her peers, did things.

• Gary the Grinch was just a major downer. And Ray couldn't take off his hat inside the auditorium where his former employer was being honored?!

Last ETA: The tribute ran footage of Whitney herself singing IWALY from the 1994 Grammy Awards. If Kevin was in the audiwnce, it must have been really moving for him to see her up there, singing their song.

I think what they may have done is take his words and interpreted(twisted) them in their own way. Its like they assumed thats what he meant, and you kno what happens when people assume things. Dionne had to help plan a funeral for not only her cousin, but for one of the biggest celebrities in the world. I cant imagine how they must have been, especially with deciding to make the service public.

I was wondering who that was in that hat. What I was wondering is why they felt the need to let viewers kno who Pat was.

I thought of Kevin too when they showed that footage from the '94 grammys. Kinda embarassed to say that was my first time seeing that. She was awesome, and to me it felt like she was singing to Kevin. I just cant see her singing that song with so much heart and soul and NOT think about Kevin. I kno she couldnt have been thinking about BB!

Thank God they had Whitney doing IWALY and not anyone else, no one is ever going to do it like her. I think the Live in Chile and WMA versions are even better but obviously they wanted to use the Grammy version and its great too. I think it must still be hard for Kevin to hear this stuff tho, it's hard for me and I didn't know her on a personal level. I like Jennifer Hudson, Celine, CeCe etc but it does all show that there was only one Whitney. I noted the distribution of songs and clips. No BB or still less BBB, I'm sure Clive Davis would never have allowed it. As for Kevin's interview I'm working my way up to watching it. But I think he wants to hide the personal now if he can. Actually, he always did since he didn't speak originally at all but Dionne got him to come out and do the Homecoming. He probably didn't anticipate the world wide reaction to his talk but as with TBG itself none of this is going away, it's too real and people everywhere can fell that.

yea I saw it he was totally cheesin lol oh and I found the defintion of red blooded male from urban dictionary and it says... "To have an over sexual mind set. Red-Blooded people view the opposite sex as eye candy at all times, often viewing them up and down, often making their own personal rating for how sexually attractive the person is."

This says a lot becoz some people said Kevin only loved Whitney but not sexually...i always knew from the way he looked at her in TBG he wanted her in real life. The fact that he says this himself means, the love he has had for her over the years was real. If he was ONLY sexually attracted to her, that would have faded away when Whitney disappeared/ was away from him for all those years...but the fact he was still ushing about her means, he had more than sexual attraction toward her, he was inlove with her.

I agree with you. I know years had passed and they both have had their big lives after TBG. However, what I'm sure of - is that Kevin was in love with Whitney during shooting of The Bodyguard and he wanted her sexually. I mean, all 'red blooded' men did, right? But he was also a friend to her and I think that they might never slept with each other what left him longing for her for many years. 'I guess I never had you, just held you for a little while' - like he sings in one of his songs.
That interview with CBS brings nothing new IMO, but is not disappointing. He did say many times that she is pretty and statuesque(I love that word, you must think of someone as a goddess to use it) and that he didn't feel qualified to do that speech. I guess because so many people was with her on everyday basis in her last years and he knew her well 20 years ago. I guess that's why he said it. And I didn't have impression that her family begged him to speak, it was said that the family asked him to do it and we know from earlier interviews it was Dionne. So - overall I have a good impresion. Thanks for posting it, Aurielle

Kevin and Whitney kept certain aspects of their "very powerful bond" private.

don't expect alot from Kevin. But I believe some rat and her posy will try leaking stuff.

Here is the link from CBS 2-LA with Pat Harvey who is a very professional and decent reporter and awarding winning.

Kevin has said in several interviews that as soon as Dione asked him to speak, he didn't hesitate, he said yes. To me he seems humble and grateful that her family thought highly of him, asking him to speak at whitney's funeral. He has never given the impression that WH's family begged him to speak at her funeral....All the wonderful things he had been saying about Whitney in public wasn't a request from her family. He did so because he loved her and her family never forgot how KIND & RESPECTFUL kevin has been to Whitney when she was alive. It was just right that they asked him to speak because they knew he had GENUINE LOVE for WH.
