Yeah, he treated Caroline badly a lot through their relationship, making her feel like she wasn't good enough for him, then just when she was moving on he wanted her back!

I never understood why the writers kept going back to them. Matt looked thoroughly embarrassed by Caroline many times.

I was so relieved when I felt the pull towards Forwood in the writing in season 2. There was just so much more complexity between T+C. Matt always seemed inconvenienced by Caroline being a vampire.

The writers really tried with Matt & Caroline, & it just didn't work no matter what. I was glad when they moved on from them for good in s3 & could properly explore Caroline/Tyler

And then it turns out that Klaus took over his body around that point and used it as an excuse to kiss Caroline.

I mean... The lack of respect that the writers had for Tyler from season 3 onwards speaks for itself. Everything became about Klaus. It's gross.

Kat Graham said she and Michael were best friends from day one, so I bet she was disgusted about the way he basically got fazed out post-season 3.

That and Candice being extremely pro-Forwood at panels until she got bullied into being the opposite by the time Klaroline was forced upon us

Fear of backlash perhaps, because The Originals became so popular and nobody was allowed to badmouth Klaus - so in their heads, supporting Michael would be like criticizing Joseph.
