i had always intended to watch it, saw gifs and some good reviews and finally decided to watch the first episode. wow! :eek: loved the satirical comedy and subtlety subversive themes, also the use of modern terms and talk in a period drama. usually that would be kind of jarring, but it works here because this is a very subtle questioning of what we are told is history (his story) and makes you look at other perspectives.
i am still mesmerized by the dress as boys scene in 1x02, so many themes and a righteous skewering of patriarchal values. wow! that whole episode is gold, start to finish. :thud: |

i have seen all 10 episodes of Season 1, and all 10 episodes of Season 2 now. :eek: i definitely think season 1 is more light-hearted and crazy in all it's themes, parties, and social statements, while season 2 is darker and heading inexorably into the American Civil War, a hugely bloody and divisive war that ripped the country apart. i would probably say 1x02 and 2x10 are my favorite episodes, also love 1x01 and 1x03. i need a little bit of time to process, before starting Season 3.
i am definitely adding Emily and Sue to my small list of ships, love them. :hug: :love: |
