JR was basically a businessman like Dan. His father worked on a ranch and he ran the business for him. He treated his wife like dirt (constantly cheated on her) and often belittled his two brothers.

...Very similar traits there with Dan JR was the guy that everybody in town hated, and there was even a big storyline in the 80's for that show known as "Who Shot JR?" - There were lots of suspects, because nearly everyone had a reason to hate him.

The difference with Dan was that Karen could have been his saving grace. If only he had got past his ego and had the grace to admit his feelings for her... Long before he shot Keith.

Dallas made JR a very cold, cruel husband and businessman because the time period allowed for it I mean, he cheated constantly, yet female viewers still loved him and wanted him. Can you imagine the uproar about a character like him today?

Dan could be mean to Nathan and was clearly unhappy with Deb, but I lost faith in the show when they had him actually kill Keith. It was just too brutal and you immediately knew that audiences wouldn't forgive him for that. Totally unfair decision by Schwahn.

It was totally unfair, because we all know that Dan wasn't evil. He was just a little boy in grown-up's clothing. Deep down, he wanted Keith's love. He was just too proud to admit it.

Also, we all know his chances with Karen were destroyed thanks to the shooting.

And even though I loved Keith, I think he need to die at some part. Just wish it wasn't at the end of Dan

I know what you mean.

I wish some big dramatic subplot had happened where there had been a robbery gone wrong, and Dan had actually tried to SAVE Keith rather than be seeking revenge.

That would have been a lot better imo and it still would have been enough for Dan to try & change in S4

Yes, he could have seen the error of his ways without actually having tried to commit murder first Stupid Dan

I hate how Karen turns against him in S4. They had made so much progress before Lucas spills the beans.

Weirdly enough, if you think about it, Lucas becomes a lot like Dan... In that he spends an entire season seeking the truth aka seeking revenge. It consumes him in the same way that it consumed Dan.

...Like father, like son.
