I've only watched seasons 4-7 the past few years.

Me too. Mainly because I love Shawn and Angela. Plus there are a lot of inconsistencies in the first few seasons. That said, I do like those seasons.

1x04 was Topanga's first episode & it's when she pushed him against the lockers & kissed him

3x01 is when he asked her to be his girlfriend

Really? I didn't know that the kiss was that early on. I really should watch my season one dvd's. I have watched some but clearly not all episodes.

I do remember the laundry, high five moment.

Yeah, it was really early on in the show - before they even knew they'd keep Topanga around! Such a great episode though, I loved seeing them connect, but that the writers didn't rush into putting them together when they were so young

Yeah, plus they didn't really know each other back then - it was better to see them be friends first

It would have felt a little forced, it was important to see them both as individuals first

Plus, I like how it happened naturally, the writers hadn't planned out this huge romance between the two of them, it just happened

Some of my favorite couples started like that, April and Andy, Monica and Chandler, Barney and Robin and so on, I love when the writers let the story go where it wants to go. That is the sign of good writing.

I agree, but I think it's especially important on a show based around kids where I think it's harder to predict what kind of chemistry the actors will have together

Plus, they hired Danielle at the last minute, so they got really lucky that she was a good actress & eventually became the female lead on the show!
