Charles Brandon played by Henry Cavill



A long-time friend to King Henry VIII, Charles is asked by the King to escort his sister, Princess Margaret to Spain to meet her new husband. While Charles naturally flirts with the Princess, she is initially dismissive of his overtures, seeing him as nothing more than a charismatic playboy. On the voyage to Portugal, Charles's attraction to Margaret grows and the two make love. When Margaret's husband dies, Charles proposes marriage to the Princess who accepts. Charles's marriage infuriates the King, who eventually forgives his long time friend. At Margaret’s death, Charles is deeply sorry for the mistakes he made during their marriage.

Engaged to the elderly King of Portugal, feisty Margaret begs her brother, King Henry, to reconsider the match. He refuses, and she is further irritated that he has chosen his common-born friend Charles Brandon to accompany her to Portugal and present her to her future husband. Margaret pressures Henry to agree that, once her husband is dead, she may marry whomever she chooses; he seems to concede. Margaret is at first dismissive of court lothario Brandon, but they soon make passionate love on the long sea voyage to Portugal. Margaret marries the decrepit Portuguese king, who lives only a few days until she smothers him in his sleep. Henry is furious when he discovers that Margaret and Brandon have married without his consent. Margaret falls ill with pulmonary tuberculosis, and dies as Charles shows remorse for his mistakes during their marriage..

I loved Henry when i saw him as young Albert Mondego in The Count of Monte Cristo. He was so young back then. He is gorgeous

I love how throughout each season of The Tudors, Charles changed physically. He matured... But still looks so distinguished and handsome

I must say, I'm so glad to see that there are still a number of Tudors fans posting here!

And hmm..well for the OP, maybe a little section about the "real C/M couple" (since of course in reality charles brandon married Henry's sister mary,and she was briefly queen of france not portugal but I think a main reason they used the name Margaret was so there wouldn't be too many Mary's )

When I have time I'll do some "fanart/picture/quote" hunting" as well to try to contribute

Your suggestions sound great! I was thinking about adding something like that, but i just didnt have the time this morning. I also want to make the pics of Henry and Margaret a little smaller. They are quite large at the moment.

And yes, apparently they didnt want to have TWO Mary's on the cast sheet and confuse the costume and make up people. So they made Margaret a mix of Henry's two sisters.

I think i need to do a Tudors marathon viewing. I have so many marathon viewings to do I still havent seen the final season in its entirety. Want to buy the DVD's. But i have season 1-3

But exept the fact that Charles is such a eye candy contibute to the show, he also has a great/strong character I can't imagine how it's like to be the BFF of Henry

I think historically Charles was not unlike Henry's portrayel of him. He was athletic and charismatic. And quite the ladies man
