Michael is annoyed and Justin is teasing him I like them both in the pilot at the diner (was it in 1.02 where Justin gets to know Debbie?) but Michael was never mean to Justin he doesn't deserve the hatred and the bashing in the fics |

He was mean to Justin esp. at the start of Season 3, hence the punching scene bet. B/M...but in his defense, he is Brian's best friend...

I think there's a difference.
Yes, J teased M ... but what else is he supposed to do? Michael's always whining about HIS room and HIS stuff, it's annoying! You can not take that serious, I mean... he was just jealous. So Justin's reaction is kinda cool. But Michael is simply stupid and mean in the end of S2 and the beginning of S3. But those who hate him blame him for simply everything. So this is as weird as it is with Ethan and Lindsay... for me. I mean, yes, Michael could be annoying and yes, there are moments I do dislike him (S2/S3 Justin and S5) but he's not a bad guy. __________________

The difference betwen Micheal and Ethan imo is that Micheal, despite all his flaws was a loyal friend. He was a bit too loyal sometimes and he crossed the fine line a few times (as he did in 301 when he said some very disrespectful things about Justin ) but at least with him it was 'what you see is what you get', while Ethan came across as not being too loyal, not as a friend and not as a partner. He promised love and made grand gestures but I think at the end of the day he hurt Justin more than Micheal ever did. This is why many people in the fandom resent him while they're willing to 'forgive' Micheal. (at least that's how I feel )
As for B/J- I def agree that Justin would have gone back to Brian eventually even if Ethan wouldn't cheet. __________________
