I liked the first time Brian saw that Revrent in church when he took Joan there. I loved how he told him that since he never told his mother he's gay,he's not going to tell her about him.plus I loved how he said I haven't talked to your boss in years :D
I loved that too, it was funny when he said he hadn't talked to his boss  Brian has the best lines, I swear.
that was really great
but when you come to think of it,his tone of voice was quite sad when he said that he never told his mother he's gay.at least it sounds like it to me :sigh: |
I don't know if he was really sad. I think he was used to the situation with his mother and everything it implied. I think in that scene he was more amused because of the coincidence than anything else.
I don't blame him for not having told his parents that he was gay can you imagine him coming out at 17? that would've been bad :(
Yeah, that wouldn't have gone down well :(
His dad would've beaten him up before kicking him out.
Somehow I think Jack would have taken the money from Brian either way... :look:
You mean the money Brian gave him regularly after he became succesfull? I've no doubts about that, Jack would have taken them even if he knew Brian was gay.
It's so terrible to think that they would be perfectly fine with taking his money but not accept him because he's gay.
talk about double standard... :(
and to think that stuff like that happens in real life :(
I am not even sure if Jack wouldn't accept it. I mean, in the end he somehow did, didn't he?
Sure, what he said in the garage was... sooo wrong and harsh, but he showed up again. There must be a reason for it. The man is dying, there's nothing Brian can do to prevent that, but Jack keeps showing up. I think it would have been awkward for him, but somehow I don't think he would have such a big problem with it. Not like Joan. |
I think Jack was as bad as Joan, because they both were bad parents and the worst role model a child could have because the didn't provide stable relationship and stable home.Jack only showd up in Brian's life when he needed money, and that's not a way a parent should treat a son,IMO.
as for the Revrent Tom storyline, there was a lot of double standard here,IMO,because this person talked about the bible and morals in church ,while he wasn't honest about who he is. |
I think their reactions would have definitely been different. Had Brian confessed he was gay when he was still a kid living in the house, I think Jack would have beaten him up and that would have hurt. But there is something that feels sadder and more condemning in Joan's reaction. When he did know, Jack insulted Brian and said something terrible, but as you said, he then went to see him and tried to take a step towards his son. Joan never did. When she knew, she condamned him and that was it.
