thanks for the new thread, Claudia
I love that scene where Debbie tells Michael that he's not alone __________________

Thanks for the new thread
I like that scene too. Michael really was a little lost in the beginning of S2. __________________

I have to say I can quite understand Michael at that point. I mean I didn't like it when he complained that Brian is not spending enough time with him, but on the other hand I think Micheal really felt out of place, and hurt, after David actually kicked him out.

I don't think David kicked him out. I don't remember Michael saying anything like that. Wasn't it Michael's choice to come back?

um... I don't think Michael had much choice. I mean from what he told Ted and Emmett things were not going well in Portland, he couldn't find himself there, he felt lonely and when he started to complain to David about it he told him to leave.

I don't remember exactly what Michael says, so I'll have to take your word Anyway, I think probably David realized Michael wasn't happy with him in Portland and told him to leave for his own good.

It couldn't have worked out between Michael and David because they weren't really in love.

I agree, Claudia.
I think that if they were really in love they pbbly could work things out between them, but there was no love there, so it's just as well Michael went back. from the way Michael described how David spoke to him before he left it didn't sound like David was giving Michael a friendly advice. good thing Michael was lucky enough to meet Ben __________________

I have to disagree. I think there was love there, it just wasn't deep enough maybe to convince them to find a solution. But there were feelings. Anyway, it's not true that you can always make things work if there's love. Sometimes people love each other but they're just not right for each other. It happens.

usually I'm quite a romantic, and I believe in the power of love (at least in fiction ) but in this case...
I really think Michael got into that relationship for all the wrong reasons. I mean sure, it's nice to have a rich, successful boyfriend , who buys you a car, and takes you to Paris, but... there was no love there. no real love, anyway. __________________

I don't think Michael got into the relationship because of David's money. I know you don't like David and you don't like their relationship, but it's not fair to say it was only about money it wasn't. Maybe it wasn't the love that was between B/J or between Michael and Ben later, but there was some love.

I also have to 'defend' Michael's reasoning. Think of how he disliked David paying for everything, be it taxi fees or tips. He felt obviously very uncomfortable in such situations. There was only a short time after their trip to Paris back in S1 when he started to like the preferences of money, but that certainly weren't his reasons for being with David in the first place.
But I agree that M/D can't be compared to M/B. They just didn't match on the long run. __________________

I still think he did like David and loved him somehow. It wasn't what he'll have with Ben later, but there was some genuine liking there. I think also that Michael wasn't ready because he still had some growing up to do. He did a lot of that in S2, especially with getting a new job, one he liked, and letting go of his dreams about Brian. Anyway, I think it would probably be always impossible for Michael to go live far from his family and friends, he's too tied to them.
