The main reason I quit was because of all the phony family posts. The only way I'd do it again, is to make a brand-new FB and not friend anyone! Can you do that?

That's exactly the thing to do. I have a LOT of family who are on Facebook, including my sister. But they think I don't have one because I tell them I don't when I do. And it's set to private... and I'm using a pseudonym.
