I like Ava now but I wish I cared about Avalance more as a ship. They are okay but don't really do anything for me.

We feel the exact same thing. Don't hate them but just not invested in them as much as I probably should be.

I'm going to suspect that she wasn't always meant to be a clone.

I read an interview somewhere, and I think the writers knew they wanted her to be different, not a robot, but they didn't know it was a clone either. I think they just kinda stumbled into the idea.

We'll probably see Ava try to comfort Sara in S4 about Quentin's death. I wonder if they will play the "I am Death, everyone around me dies" thing with Sara again. But maybe this time Ava will stand her ground and not let Sara push her away (like how Sara did not let Oliver push her away in S2, only to turn around and do the same thing a few episodes later

)

I think one of the writers was a fan of Orphan Black, that's how the Clone club line got in.
Although those clones were born and grew up not just 3D printed.
