Overall I loved the episode. I did hate that Clark and Chloe would not listen to Lionel for one second. He did afterall saved their necks on more than one occasion. Yes, he was a crappy father who set the seeds of who Lex is but he has reformed. He is not perfect of course.

Brainiac being back was fun and watching him confront future Superman and Supergirl in a scene in the beginning.

Loved seeing Kara always and sorry to see the last of Lana.

Can't wait for the next new episode in a couple of weeks.

what's up with Clark and even Chloe not listening to Lionel? whatever happened to Clark blaming Lex for everything? now all of a sudden it's Lionel? so Lionel makes one little bad judgement and now clark's all up on his ass. chloe should've also at least let lionel finished talking instead of interrupting him so we know what's coming that's sooo terrrible!

and Clark's too much of a wimp to even try to jump off the second floor of his barn, even tho he knows he'd easily survive the fall if he failed. instead he was going making excuses like "duurrr we wasting time!" >_<

well maybe if you weren't standing there like an idiot and actually tried jumping off the fly you wouldn't be wasting time!!and then maybe you'd be able to chase after kara and brainiac!!!

pretty good episode tho. but that end with Lana is just creepy. she's like the ring girl..

oh yeah it's funny how they gave ollie the bow and arrow so we'd be able to tell which one was him, and through process of elimination figure out the last 2 were patricia and jason.

i didn't mind chloe and clark ignoring lionel...he's done alot to hurt clark
even if he was telling the truth

First of all I must say, that I love the whole Veritas arch and the idea behind it. Unfortunately - and one of the reasons I really did not like 'Traveler' - the arch is rushed and pressed, therefore at times lacking sense (even for SV standards) and giving me the impression that I am missing vital information. Certainly part of is is based on the usual less then stellar storytelling, but probably a grand part of it can be written off due to the shortened season.

I am surprised I am responding so well to an episode, that on the surface would probably not be considered a Lex-centric episode.

Even the opening had me interested right from the start, which has been rare with the frequent bubblegum (no pun intended) colored pictures and plot teasers that just scream ... OBVIOUS! - aside from the first complete glitch ... "Why would Kara wear gloves when working?" See, I get stuck at little things. If you can't get hurt, you wouldn't stop to put on gloves, or would you?

James back was awesome! James back all wet was pretty much made of win! RIGHT FROM THE START! He actually kind of kept me interested and thoughtful about why he would want Kara, and what he's planning next. At the same time I was confused about how much Kara actually knows about Krypton and yet she never talked to Clark about it. I would think if my Cousin shows up, her and I would sit down and brainstorm a little. Trying to get on the same page. I guess Clark doesn't need to.

I really hoped for a few amusing "Spiderman-like" flying experiments. Obviously that power is becoming pivotal for his survival and yet he decides to pout and not try. Guess some things never change. It certainly would have put some humor in the episode, but I have to admit that probably wasn't called for. I am glad that Clark guilt tripping will stick with us until the rest of time. *sigh*

Lana's "departure" was well done and although I obviously am happy that she's "gone" for now, it was still heartbreaking. Unfortunately the whole thing reminded me too much of Tara in Buffy Season 5, so unfortunately a lot of deductions for blatant copying. I was extremely confused that Clark suddenly can read Kryptonian fluently. When did this happen? Lana writes and he can easily read it? The closing scene was fantastic (aside from the angel statue behind Lana - come on!!!!) and once again Allyson blew me away with her fantastic width of portraying emotions. Clark to me was not devastated enough. What does it take for him to really break down and stop being a stoic robot?

Lois and Jimmy irritated me somewhat in this episode, because they were they only 2 characters completely clueless and I constantly wanted to slap them and yell "get with the damn program". Personally I would have preferred them out of the episode and more time to concentrate on the rest.

Chloe certainly was on a roll. Her no nonsense attitude was awesome. I was surprised though, that she didn't at least try to heal Lana? I thought it's established she has a healing power, which would mean the person did not necessarily needs to be dead. Right? I would have expected her to jump right in it, damn the consequences.

I can't decide if I should feel sorry for Lionel or not. I still don't generally trust him, but in this case I think he is still the safer bet, and I am sure he is certainly aware that it's Lex who's starting to make put pieces together. If I wouldn't utterly condemn his actions in 'Traveler', I might even consider him telling the truth, probably for his own good rather than Clarks. Still I think Chloe should have at least listened, since there have been enough situations in the past, where Lionel has helped out - so the "you cried wolf one too many times..." speech was uncalled for IMO.

Clark was certainly in character all the way through: Full of guilt, scared to do something and jumping to conclusion. A side of me can understand his sudden need to turn against Lionel, and yet I still don't get his motivations. He trusted him for years now - not fully, but to an extend - and yet suddenly he won't even listen to him. I am aware of last episode, but even there his reactions didn't make sense to me in many ways. He's known not to trust him and yet he's gone for him for help (and received it) many times - so what changed?
I absolutely loved, that Clark blames Lionel for Lex's dark side though, and still showing in all he said, this and in last weeks ep, how much he wishes that things with Lex would have gone different and that he actually misses the man Lex used to be.

Lex is obviously finally off the edge, I think. I absolutely adore the loop back to the pilot, although I have to admit that I always thought the newspaper was talking about Oliver's disappearance to the Island and not the death of his parents, but I might be confused now. His memories coming back and the reasoning behind it were believable and the scenes with Patricia, Jason and Ollie made a lot of sense. How adorable was little Ollie with his little bow? Ahhh ... doesn't make much sense DC canon wise, but hey ... what does! I am still not sure if Lex is so driven to find out about the Veritas secret, because deep down he knows it will lead him to Clark or if it's just his everyday curiosity. Right now it seems to me, like Clark will be the one thing that finally turns him completely dark, which would be an interesting twist to the whole Superman history.

I honestly still don't see how they can leave Lex out of next season and it making a lot of sense. Not sure if I am looking forward to finding out or if I am terrified to.

Where is Oliver in all this? I truly think that Chloe or Clark would have contacted him by now. This whole arch screams for Oliver to go into full on revenge mode ... so were is he?!? *cries*

I truly hope there will eventually be some kind of face down with Oliver and Lionel or Lex

i'm not sure how i feel about this episode. i agree with kara that clark needs to learn how to fly, i was hoping to see them practice before he gave up so easily.

as for the whole lana thing, that is totally five year ago. the whole she is near death and clark or who ever has to risk their life to save her, is really old. i honestly would be happy if she died, it would change the usual outcome. as for kara, she has to know that its a trap. i enjoyed seeing lois and jimmy, though their storyline was kind of pointless. but i guess they once again show who out of the loop those two are.

the only thing i really liked in this episode, is how they tied lex's flashbacks to the reason why they were in smallville. i always wondered why linol would bring his son with him on a buisness deal. it was also interesting to see then lex used to hang out with oliver and jason.

what i'm still confused about is if oliver is older then lex, why was their school renion the same year?

as for next season, i'm hoping that they bring oliver back as a regular, and have the other people in the justice leage in a few episodes. Actually have clark join this time, and have plots about that as well as funny scenes between the members. as for lex, hopefully they can get michael to recure thoughout the season.

I really liked this episode.....Though I only saw parts of it, because I was gone for the 20 minutes of it, but I'm happy that Lana is done for a while she needs to be...and Chloe promised Clark that she wouldn't use her powers ever again. And I'm pretty sure that she stands by that. But I loved the ending though I didn't get the whole Lana thing because I missed it. But I hope that it's good how they ended it....I loved what I've seen of it. I don't think Lana would of been healed if I don't know how she got paralazed.... I didn't see parts with Lionel in it, but both of them were cruel to him and should have listened...he changed a lot since the Jor-el thing. Anyway that's my thoughts.

I thought the episode was okay, wind-down from the traveler. But some of my comments (hope these don't get annoying to anyone, just my random rambling ) :

Random Comments:
[] Imagery with the hawk flying and the flight storyline was great. Some great shots
[] Lil lex and his lil friends was so cute. Lil ollie with the bow, as if we couldn't guess which he was. Maybe the only one with blonde hair?
[] Lois and Jimmy kinda slow for me this episode. Did they really think that if they jump Lionel, he's gonna tell them all of this deep dark secrets? And why would they just open Lana's mail? I know they are not above breaking and entering but they had no reason to suspect that letter was from Lionel.
[] I was disappointed that Clark gave up so easily learning to fly He was too afraid to jump off his barn? If he failed, it wouldn't hurt him anyway! They could have atleast shown him falling into a stack of carefully placed hay, if he was so afraid
[] Loved Kara in the ep, that she is not above sacrificing herself for a human. showed that she has a connection with earth now. Though naive to think villains would ever keep their word.
[] I bawled like a baby the last scene, just because I bawl at scenes like that. I think it would have been more of an impact if they writers had first established the love relationship again. Lana and Clark have been at each others throats and cold towards each other the last few eps, it took some away from that scene.
[] The hospital Lana is in is the same as the one chole's mom was in. Lana got the short end of the stick though, dark ominous hallway? Mrs. Sullivan got a bright lit room
[] In the flashback, ollie hiding behind a grandfather clock. Does he have a thing with clocks, living in a watchtower? If its not important, I love the attention to detail

Questions:
- Where did this email lead come from?
- Who is on the end of Lionel's mysterious phone conversations in the flashback?
- If Lex remembers that little ollie had a bow, couldn't he put two and two together and figure out green arrows secret?
- Think Chloe can heal Lana?
- Why does Braniac want Kara so much? Prob something with the bracelet he stared at for a while.
- Why doesn't Lionel just offer some proof instead of his word. The key, anything else to convince them or those photos he left for Lana?
- If they played together, why didn't Jason Teague know about Lex bak in S5?
- Wonder what is in zurich that can control Clark. Is it picture of Lana?
- Why did Clark close lana's eyes?

Continuations
[] Darkness is coming. Hopefully we see a new enemy. If we do, I hope its Darkseid or Doomsday
[] The whole Braniac and Kara in space. Hopefully this leads to space scenes, that's be cool And not sure if anyone else noticed, or I am making it up but I loved how Kara stopped in midair to let braniac lead the way.

Possible blooper
- Jimmy said that he was flying solo after chloe went to find clark. But then when Clark went to see Chloe at the DP, she said she just got in, spent the whole morning at the water and energy station

The clincher for me was the groveling. Lionel would NEVER do that unless he was desperate.

This episode was okay. There were some parts that just seemed a little choppy for me.

The good:

- Lana might be dead! (Though it's a boring type of death. The death she had in season 5 before Clark turned things around was a whole lot more dramatic.)

- We got to see little Ollie with his bows and arrows

- Return of Braniac

- A House of El vs. Braniac at the start

- Lois & Jimmy teaming up!

- Typical Lois going under cover to get a story

- We got to see Oliver's father!!! That was the coolest for me. It's cool that they are combining the Superman mythology with the Green Arrow mythology.

The bad:

- Clark being such a wimp on flying. This season they sure have made Clark into a sissy type. Where is the cool Clark from the earlier seasons (and even season 6?!)

- Clark and Chloe not listening to Lionel. Sure Lionel is messed up but he had the key, Clark should have listened, personal feelings aside. That's what good rational Clark would have done.

- You'd think by now with Lex's memory of Oliver with the bow and arrow that he would figure out Green Arrow's identity.

Lana is not done. She is still a part of the show and part of the cast, as you will see in the credits

For more Lana speculation please visit the Smallville Spoilers and Speculation Thread on the Spoilers board.

As far as "Veritas" as a whole, I felt that it fell flat compared to last week's Traveler. I expected better from Kelly and Brian, who are my favorite team of writers. To me, the script failed the actors, as several of the scene just ended in off beats, the acting was a bit stiff. Maybe it was the editing, I didn't notice if it was a new editor or not, but I just was a bit disappointed b/c last week was so good.

The premise of Kara teaching Clark to fly was a bit misleading, as we didn't really get a scene where Clark even tried. Kind of a letdown.

However, the special effects of Brainiac and Kara taking off the DP roof and then pausing in high orbit made up for some of it.

I realize the show is on a budget, which is why they probably couldn't afford it.

It's important to remember, these last few episodes were written in a hurry most likely and Veritas was also written as a possible season ending finale.

The Jimmy/Lois dynamic was OK, but it was odd that they didn't include Chloe in their quest to snoop and investigate Lionel.

The Flashbacks were brilliantly done. Best part of the episode b/c it's tieing down lose ends from S1-S2. A close second was Lionel losing it infront of Chloe and kneeling down infront of her, begging. I can't remember the last time Lionel begged anyone that didn't have a hug to his head?

If the end of John Glover is soon, then make it a memorable one SV.

As far as Lana's condition, it puts her out of the story and now Clark has a goal for the rest of S7. Save Lana, and find and save Kara from Brainiac.

I did enjoy the little line from Kristing(Brainiac) when she said "You are too late, Kal-El". That was nicely played and I liked TW's emotion in that scene. Thankfully he closed her eyes b/c that look was getting creepy.

Speaking of emotion, does anyone hit emotional notes as well as Allison Mack on this show? She's so expressive with her face, when she came in to see Clark and Lana in the wheelchair, you were right there wth Chloe. Did anyone notice the angel statue in the background? Yeah, S1 flashback to the cemetary scene that so many people love, when Clark was standing infront of it and he looked like the angel in the dark, it seems like they found it in the prop building storage area and someone said "Hey, lets use it or lose it!" and here it is...full closure 6 seasons later

I definitely liked the twist at the end, with the 2 keys. Lex was so ready to go and find out what is in that box that will "control the traveler", and now he's gotta get Daddy's key

Sets up an interesting five episodes starting April 17th

Smallville was excellent this week.
Loved the backstory about Veritas.
How cute were little Lex, Ollie, Jason and Patricia? I'd love to see them again!
Brainiac is back! And rocking as usual.
He even managed to save us from Lana, so bonus points for that.
Though, poor Clark in that last scene.
And where did Brainiac take Kara? I do hope she'll come back soon, and intact.
Loved the scene between Kara and Clark where she tried to teach him how to fly. Adorable.
"*hand on his elbow* *smile* It's really easy. Up, up and away."
Loved Lois and Jimmy going after the story together! Can't wait to see if they'll get the story. And if they'll find papers to run it, since Daily Planet isn't a choice thanks to Lex.
Lex was deliciously evil again.
I also like his new lady minion. Finally someone competent!
And MB, oh, I'm gonna enjoy watching you fall! Bring. It. On.
