Best friends since they were little young kids and sadly for Pete, Clark has lied to Pete the whole time.
It wasn't Clark's fault though... Sure his parents told him not to tell anyone.

Clark lying to Pete for all these years is probably worst than his lies to Lex... since he only met Lex in season 1 and only heard bad things about him/Luthors.
