That's very true. Clana had some cute fun times together in the early seasons, but the angst got more and more prevalent between them as the show went on.

That's not to say that Chlark and Clois didn't also have some angst though. But it was in a more mature way.

I definitely feel like I'm from a different era, like I'm some kind of relic. If you visit the SV reddit as a Chlark fan talking about how toxic Clana was or not liking Lana as a character you will not receive a warm welcome. Fans these days who are watching the show for the first time do not understand the nuances of the show, like proper development for instance, when it aired week to week. They just think "pretty couple so cute" because Clark and Lana are attractive and seem to be in love.

I miss TWOP forums so so so much but lemme not age myself even more.

Wow, Television Without Pity? People here on FF always said that place was hostile, which is why they preferred it here.

Well, Reddit is for Gen Z people who have no clue.

I've actually seen newer fans of the show who do appreciate how dragged out Clana was. Some new fans who defend Clana are mostly Kristin fans, and not really fans of Clark or Superman. Even Kristin herself had to remind fans that Clark was not going to end up with Lana.

Well, as Tia and I have both said, Clark and Lana had their time, and it was high school. After season 4, there's really not much more you can do with them as a couple, and Clark has to move on as Lana doesn't fit into his post-high school storyline like Chloe and Lois do.

Exactly. Clark and Chloe and Clark and Lois both felt more organic in their angst.

Both TWOP and KSite weren't for the faint of heart and there was definite toxicity with a few folks lingering around but my experience was always memorable. Lots of lively discussion and honest snarky reviews. The writers/creators were on the forums as well so they knew what fans were saying back then even without social. Now did they listen? Not usually.

I'd consider myself a Kristin fan and I still didn't like Lana or her role in Clark's mythos. What was always interesting to me was they had an original character like Chloe that they purposely included and gave all this potential. Did they not expect fans to love her (fans did)? Were they not expecting Tom and Allison's chemistry (they seemed to lean into it)? I tend to ask myself these things when I see how AlMiles kept going back to the well with Chlark giving them all these great scenes over the years. Just funny I guess.

Speaking of great scenes ...

I see, Janine. I'm glad I didn't go there, then.

Well, I certainly wouldn't mind having the writers/producers see some of my posts.

Well, I've said before that Chloe is like a Lana/Lois hybrid, or a composite character, incorporating elements of both women. Kristin's Lana is more like... well, I've said that she'd fit in better in Gotham City wearing skin tight black leather and a bullwhip.

But I agree, it made no sense for the writers to do so much with Tom and Allison and not go anywhere with it. I suspect, again, that they were writing scared because they felt like they painted themselves into a corner with Clark/Lana. It was crappy for Lois as well.

I was a frequenter at KSite at the same time I joined here. Mostly just posted on the Tom picture thread. My friend Maria there was the queen of the Tom pics. Fun times. Gradually posted there less and less as the mods there were too heavy handed. I found to be more fun.

I think anyone looking for real unguarded discussion was very happy with the forums back in the day. Now it's very muted and one-sided and of course the dynamic of the cast is very different as well. Time is something else.

Kristin as Catwoman would be stellar! Much better use for her than whatever SV was doing. I'll be back in my writing hole for Chlark so stay on the lookout for S5 Redux Chapter 3 (my personal favorite)

I think that's totally fair! Not everyone needed to be in the forum/debate mix and SV inspired tons of artistic outlets for fans. I was all over the map doing everything so I might post my older stuff later.

I mean, I did post elsewhere on KSite a little, but I didn't have the time to get into big debates 'cause I was in Uni at the time.

Nowadays, forums aren't what they used to be. But yeah, is definitely more fun and chill. The other forums felt more like a warzone back in the day.

Nice to meet you! We may have crossed paths before elsewhere. I am Cece!

Hi Cece! Honestly we might have but I took a huge break from the fandom mid-way through S6 so it's possible you were around during my hiatus I do remember going into battle for a lot of topics back in them days. Most of them had to do with defending Chloe and her role on the show and in Clark's life. Go figure!

But all the same Smallville is absolutely having a resurgence thanks to the cons and the podcast so I'm just riding the wave and enjoying what inspiration rolls my way.

Hi, Cece! Remember me? Alex.

Yeah, that's true. Forums were big in the 2000s, but now a lot of people are on Reddit and Tumblr.

Hi, Liv! Man, I've never been to any of those forums. I've only ever been here. You're right, is more fun.

I'm sorry to hear that, Janine. I miss the way forums used to be, where people could speak their minds.

She would. She definitely has the eyes for it. Hypnotic and alluring.

Okay, I will.
