After an hour of thinking I have to admit that as much as I am against Clark giving up his powers, that is organic for his version. It's one of the things I disliked most about this Smallville version of Clark. lol He never seemed like he truly wanted his powers. So it'd make sense if having kids made him want to be a full time dad without the burden of the world. probably one day he'd return to it but he probably did as much saving as anyone.

Yeah, it is true to Smallville's Clark Kent. So while we are against it, giving up his powers makes sense. We don't have to agree with it, but we can agree that it stays true to Smallville's Clark and something he has always wished for.

So wraps up our Smallville story nicely.

^ Yes I think that's the tragic thing for me and it took me a long time to accept it. But if we remember and look through all the seasons, he always viewed his powers as a burden and although I am happy with the growth that he received during season 9-10 when he finally became the hero that I knew he could be since he embraced who he was, it still was true to him.

So in my headcanon, Clark accepted who he was but Lois became pregnant and he decided to give away his family to be a full time father and return to the farm just like how the Kents raised him.

And you had 3 Smallville writers actually write the scene. So it wasn't even Marc who wrote the scene... and co-creator Alfred Gough even signed off on it. So that mean they all loved the direction or at least felt it rung true to him.

It was better than nothing. Believe me, I was disappointed too. Still am. I told Tia that. I'm just looking at where he ended up, and it makes sense. Tom has always shared resistance to be Superman. He was happy to be Clark and stay Clark Kent. That was probably one of the most annoying aspects of watching Smallville. So he got his wish, thus why he agreed to come back. It has been confirmed now that the scene we saw was the one he couldn't say no to. Because he loved where SV's Clark ended up. With Lois, a family, and no powers so the ability to grow old together with his wife. For what it is worth, it makes sense for the reasons we mentioned above. The story is wrapped. For Smallville. He may very well be Superman again, after some major event that will make him see the need. However, for Smallville's sake, he doesn't end up as Superman. I'm fine with that. I have no choice either, lol. And see it this way: He got Lex Luthor to retreat after seeing Clark has no powers, haha.

I honestly would have preferred nothing. I know I’m bad for saying that and someone could argue I’m not a “real fan” but honestly reboots/sequels can be horrible because you’re taking a previous work with all the greatness and magic it used and undoing it to tell a story down the line that wasn’t initially intended

Or maybe I’m just old and grumpy. I’m glad you guys enjoyed it I will say I wouldn’t mind a Smallville miniseries which I know makes my other statement hypocritical but they let the cat out of the bag

It was great to see Tom and Erica as Clark and Lois again! I've missed them and it makes me so happy that they got their HEA with their two daughters.

I think I would had been better if that was probably like 2024, or like 2030 or something. lol Only because the episode would fit more in with the series finale for me.
