thanks!
just re post my notes: my notes: yea i was pissed that we didnt see anyone get jinxed or anything...except luna that fight in the ministry was pretty weak actually and all this important stuff from the book was missing that pissed me off like the fact that it could have been neville or harry that voldy chose...harry and dumbledores talk at the end should have been longer snapes memory was too short and ambigious...its was too important to be cut like that didnt need all the writhing and dreams bits...should have been 2 short ones max! sirius death was too downplayed plus the film didnt have a linear structure to it...with no real follow through thread. But i understand how hard it must of been to condense the longest book into 2 hours and 18mins...which brings me to the fact that it should have been longer! didnt feel as dark as the last one...less violence which is never good... Umbridge was too OTT for my liking Gambon still sucks Dudley...yuck! wanted more Ron and Ginny Oh and Arthurs attack was also majorly underplayed and cut to shreds... this film would have been EXTREMLEY hard to follow had you not read the books! the positive: The Cute R/Hr banter and looks and the subtle H/G hints, Luna and Harry scenes, Sirius and Harry scenes, Harry as a leader in the DA scenes, Ron being stronger and manly , Dan was looking bigger too...the guys were beefcakey ...o and Tonks was cool! I should try to compile this into a review __________________

I loved it! I thought the dark atmosphere of the book was conveyed really well.

I loved the movie as well. I thought the beginning was a little long and the ending was short and of course there were alot of things that were cut out, but they did good with waht they could. It should have been 3 hours IMO.
Loved all the subtle hitning between HR/R and H/G But Im a Harmony shipper as well so I loved their little cute friendship scenes. The fight at the end could have gone on a little longer. But I loved how the movie wasnt so dark and depressing. The 5th Book and the 4th movie were both really depressing and I liked the happier ending on this one. |

I'm glad it isn't 3 hours frankly. We'll have to start waiting in line 1 1/2 hour before to get a good seat in the theatre. Then we have to watch 15 mins worth of trailers, THEN the movie starts. This happened with Pirates AWE and I totally resented the movie length by the last half hour. It ruined my overall enjoyment of the film. And its better that a film leaves you with wanting more than pissing you off because you can't feel your butt from sitting so long.

i think it is the best film yet!!...but i agree they could have made the ministry of magic battle scene longer. im still happy with what they accomplished considering how massive the book is.
i think i enjoyed the trio scenes the most...i think it was lacking in the gof movie so it was good to see it incorporated in this film. i loved how hermione and ron were a constant support for harry and ron sticking up for harry against seamus. ahh this is the best we have seen of ron in the films so far...rupert grint did an awesome job! ron was so much more canon...he wasn't wimpy at all like in all the other films! i loved the da scenes too...they were fun to watch i know there was a lot missing but for what was achieved in 2 and a bit hours was amazing! __________________

Wait..so we dont see any of the kids get hurt at the Ministry? WTF is up with that? That was one of the best parts...to see the kids take a stand and fight and endure consequences. Sheesh...what a piss off.
Im seeing it tonight. Still looking forward to it __________________

The only one we really saw get hurt was Luna, the others had cuts and bruises, but we didn't see them get hurt. I suppose they had to keep it somewhat mild to not up the rating.
I just got back from seeing it. I was overall pleased with it, however I was upset that some important stuff got left out. I think it could have been longer. Some things I didn't like: -Snape's memory was too quick, we should have seen more of it. -Not enough of Lupin (he could/should have been at the Dursley's to pick up Harry). -They didn't include that Neville could have been chosen instead of Harry. -Umbridge was a bit over the top. -They really didn't go over the Percy Weasley storyline. -Ron and Hermione didn't become prefects. -No Ron trying out for the Quidditch team. No Quidditch at all... -Could have been more Ron. -Could have been more Tonks. And other stuff, I could go on for awhile, so I'll just stop Stuff I liked: -More Fred/George -Ron was more manly, less worried/whiney. And hot, if I may add -Hermione/Ron relationship -Neville's bigger role, I really liked how they did his storyline about his parents. -Luna/Harry scenes -McGonagall/Umbridge scenes; really brought McGonagall's character to a new level. -How Dumbledore escaped from Fudge, he's got style! __________________

Insanitic, I just saw the movie too and find myself agreeing with a lot of your notes....just like the fourth movie, I found that the movie was too short and cut some important stuff out...

I want to start off by saying that I did like it. I caught an early showing last night because a really nice person decided to be super nice to me and a bunch of other Potterholics and I knew it would be better than the others within the first 30 seconds.
They did leave alot of stuff out but that's how it happened. I like how they fit as much as they could. I like how they fixed some of the stuff that was messed up and didn't just keep going with the erroneous flow: ministry notice more like a howler than just a notice in the post, floo and floo calls weren't as non-canon, the darkness and the overall change of perspective from the first few. I didn't much mind that they left out how the DA knew there was a meeting or what happened to Cho for ratting them (even though, as I recall, it was Cho's friend that ratter them in the book but I haven't re-read that oen in quite a while) aprt from Hermione looking a bit guilty when Snape said she'd had the last of the veritaserum. Arthurs's attack being downplayed wasn't a good move in my opinion, nor was cutting out the hospital scenes and throwing Percy in several scenes even though he was completely cut out of the last movie. I'd like to pretend that the movie stopped after they flew the thestrals into London. The Department of Mysteries scenes were a big let down after they'd done so much better than the other movies to that point. I really wish they'd let the kids do what they were meant to have done and gone through all the things they had to go through down there without rushing everything suddenly and making this big terrifying evening turn into a chase scene then a quick rescue with a godfather death. The end could have been better indeed but up until that point I think they did fairly well at capturing to spirit of the book as opposed to the other films which I feel are a completely seperate entity from the books. The books are about the whole wizarding world with all these subtleties and intricately woven storylines whereas the movies are all about a boy named Harry and nobody and nothing else. I'm going to eat my dinner now. Perhaps I'll have some more to say on the subject after I've stewed some more. __________________

Really liked the movie. Sure, I have my own individual issues with it, but overall, I thought it was awesome.
But that's not what I want to talk about. I didn't know where else to post this, so I figured here works. If anyone can think of a better thread, tell me and I'll put it there. Rupert was in Toronto, ON, Canada today, for the release of Order of the Phoenix. People lined up at the theatre for three or four hours in the morning before he arrived - I was one of 'em. Unfortunately the theatre people were horrible organizers and brought us inside the theatre BEFORE he showed up to walk the red carpet, ruining any chances we had at getting autographs or pictures with him. But he did come inside the theatre and introduce the movie, and answer a few questions that a local TV personality asked him. These are the pictures I took at the event, I was sitting about fifteen feet away from him - thought you guys would like to see them! Listening to the guy Talking to the audience - he said that Order was his favourite movie to film - "it was really fun, really cool, yeah". This is my favourite one. He is SO good looking in person, film and pictures just don't do him justice! __________________

So cool EphramIsHot! Thanks for sharing that! I'm jealous I couldn't be there too.
The guy he's talking to is the guy from YTV right? I recognise him. __________________
