“We did a new dance scene, I sort of stole [Hermione] from Ron. She remembered our old times, Viktor was acting like a gentleman again, happy to see her, she was happy to see him. Ron was sitting on the side, was jealous, and then Viktor took her to the dance floor.”

“I don’t know how far they could go. If the story from the seventh [film] that David Yates invented extended itself then maybe they would’ve gotten into a fight with Ron, and Viktor would obviously win and then live happily on forever with Hermione.”
Wow, I'm glad this was cut. Totally not in-tune with the movie and I freaking don't want an unnecessary love triangle added in the movies.
You see, that's why we tell how much better the films would be with Colombus instead of Cuaron or Yates. It wouldn't make any sense for this scene to be there, but Yates thought of adding it originally. Why? Because apparently he thought he could toy with the books and present any distorted version he felt like. I doubt he ever bothered to read the books to be honest

Why am i not surprised reading this? It truly shows how bad of a choice that man was for directing those films.

Right? I was so annoyed when I read this. This didn't happen in the book. In fact, if I recall correctly, Ron was dancing with Hermione and they were having a great time at the wedding. Ron even offered to dance and Hermione was surprised but was flustered so she accepted. We've seen captures of that scene and it's the pic I posted below but we never really saw it pan out, thank goodness.

Ugh, what a moron! I bet Emma refused to work with him. I wouldn't be surprised, he sounds like such a douche-bag. Glad she got more scenes with Rupert Grint in the movies. Especially the bonus Romione one where they were at the piano.

Emma did get to do all 8 movies including the last 4 directed by Yates so if she wasn't comfortable with the director, she's being professional about all of this. Or did you mean Stan, who was only telling in the interview about how Yates cut out that scene in particular.

I think she meant the actor. And i agree that the guy seems like a moron, actually believing that if his character beat another in a fight, he'd get the girl...

Thanks for clarifying.

I actually don't know why he's speaking up about it now but I guess he was asked about it so he just told a story on-set. Yeah, the part where Stan was talking about Krum winning if it was going to be a fight with Ron was very superficial.

it's not the actor's fault if yates had this brilliant idea of adding something stupid like that.

btw... if anyone here is from usa, i'm really sorry for the elections and i hope you're strong for you and for the people who need you and can't protect themselves.

I guess they have a different perception wherever Stan comes from.

I do agree that the majority of the movies' flaws come from Yates. Particularly when it comes to Ron and Hermione. There were so many important moments between them, especially between PoA and TDH II, that were left out. I love that they got to kiss in TDH II but I wish it was in the Room of Requirements like it had been in the book.

^ And that too plus I also prefer Harry to be there just like it was in the book. Not sure why they had to change it + that kiss had a wide angle shot which was totally useless because we couldn't see them snog properly.

I remember Yates telling how Ron and Hermione have this adventure together destroying the horcrux and then kiss, like he invented the whole scene! Dude, Ron and Hermione did go together without Harry and destroyed the horcrux in the book. The only alteration was your stupid decision to have them kiss there instead, because it would be too hard for you to film it in the same epic way as it was written!

LOL. I do remember not feeling so overwhelmed at the RHr kiss when I first saw it, probably because I got spoiled for it BUT afterwards I just learned to accept it. Of course the book kiss was so much better.
