OMG why is this thread so far down? Alan Rickman is awesome! May I please be added to the list?

Small intro: I'm Dimplz and Severus is by far my favorite character in the entire HP series. I absolutely hate that he had such a terrible life and then he died needlessly right before he would've been free from the V-man. JKR is evil!

Anyway, I ship Severus with Lily and Hermione. I'm not much of a Snarry fan but I love reading stories where Severus is Harry's biological father.

My mother used to always say, "Snape's my guy!" whenever she read the books or watched the movies. I really didn't understand the appeal way back when. I was an adult when HP first came out but I was a young adult. As I've ::ahem:: matured, I definitely see exactly what my mother was talking about! Snape is the man and so is Alan Rickman!

Sing it! Snape deserves more love for sure. He didn't get enough during his life, but death he can be remembered for his courage and redemption.

Kate Winslet and Alan Rickman at the TIFF world premiere of “A Little Chaos”, also directed by Alan Rickman.

Agreed. Unloved and still he did the right thing in the end.

From his TIFF premiere!

Thanks so much for the bump! My sister's favorite character from HP is Snape. And she knew right from the start that he isn't as shady as he was perceived to be. She was like "otherwise he won't be teaching at Hogwarts."

It's so good seeing Alan at TIFF! Love all the pics with Kate Winslet.

It's so nice finding a place where one can love Severus Snape in peace!

On Tumblr, they call people like me Snape Apologists. Of course he wasn't a nice man but he was incredibly brave and loyal despite EVERYTHING he was up against. What did Dumbledore tell Severus in the Goblet of Fire? That he thinks they sort too soon?

I don't have many outlets to sing Severus' praises because my husband doesn't like him. He has the nerve to call Severus a bully but Sirius is his favorite character (really?). When we discuss the merits of Sirius vs. Snape, it never goes well! LOL

Also thanks for those pictures and videos!

He had his jealousy issues but when you come from a unloving home and had no friends and were in love with the only person who understood you but then was in love with someone else who you thought was the actual bully, you're going to carry that with you into adulthood. Especially when you felt guilty for betraying your beloved and couldn't turn back time to change anything. He was a completely misunderstood man and thankgod Dumbledore and then later Harry saw what good was still inside him. He helped save the day. Harry would have been toast long before he was old enough to stand up for himself properly if it wasn't for Severus. People who continue to think he was a bad character completely misread the books. And that's all there is to it.

You're welcome! I'm glad that you can share your love of Snape here with us. Tumblr can get crazy sometimes so that's expected from that site.

It's funny you mentioned about the "sorting too soon" part.

He was one of the smartest wizards ever, the bravest of the series and from my perspective the most loyal person to both Lily and Dumbledore.

I would hate to be the sorting hat tying to figure that one out.

He did falter though. But the regretful mistakes he made because of jealousy and hatred for James stayed with him unfortunately. He wasn't a very forgiving man, that's for sure. All his resentment was taken out on Harry simply because of who his father was. It couldn't have been easy but I won't gloss over that the man did have baggage and he didn't handle it as well as he could have.

That is so true. What house is right for Severus? My knee-jerk answer would've been Gryffindor because of his bravery but you're right. His intelligence is bar none and there is no one in the entire series more loyal than him. What house would he go to in his adult years?

Also do you all read fanfiction? Do you have any favorites you can recommend where the author writes an exceptional Snape? I'm always on the lookout for great fics featuring my Potion's Master!

I think his cunning nature makes him perfect for the house he was chosen to be in. And he's proof that just because your IN Slytherin doesn't mean you are evil. They had some bad seeds that gave them a bad rep.
