Ginny Weasley was born on August 11th, 1981. The youngest of seven and the only daughter of the Weasley family - she was the first Weasley girl to be born for several generations, growing up with six older brothers: Bill, Charlie, Percy, Fred, George, and Ron. Ginny joined Hogwarts and was placed in Gryffindor, the traditional home for students who value and possess courage and bravery. As she grew older, her self-confidence increased, and she refused to let others get the best of her. It became evident that she had a fierce temper and could be unkind when angered. those who attended Hogwarts knew better then to cross the fiery redhead, and even her older brothers became weary of her infamous bat bogey hex. Ginny also happened to be very thoughtful and sympathetic. Making good friends with Luna Lovegood in her fourth year, she proved herself to be a very loyal friend. She was always clever, understanding and willing to help. She never let anyone bully her new friend and was always very kind to her. Luna Lovegood was born in 1981 to Xenophilius Lovegood and his wife. However, as her mother accidentally died while experimenting with spells when she was young, Luna was raised by her father, editor of the magazine The Quibbler, in a rook-like house around the village of Ottery St. Catchpole (the same village in which Ginny lived). Luna also attended Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry as well but unlike Ginny, she was sorted into the Ravenclaw house, the home for students with wisdom and knowledge. Luna was in the same year as Ginny and by her fourth year her and Ginny had become rather good friends. That friendship only grew and strengthened as the years went on. Luna is known for her creative outlook on the world around her and her wise yet calm nature. She is not very popular at school and is aware that she has very few friends, but Ginny is someone who she is very friendly with and whom she can always count on. She stayed by Ginny's side and helped restart the D.A. in their sixth year at Hogwarts, during the war. Also, since this is a slash ship, both are girls and flowers are feminine and appropriate. This specific flower is a perfect representation of Ginny and Luna because of its colors alone. Marigolds are a myriad of bright reds and yellows, which go hand-in-hand with Ginny's vivid red hair, and Luna's dirty blond. Each flower usually incorporates both colors and while a specific color may be dominant in a specific flower, both mix together very well. For centuries, it was even believed that the marigold opened in the morning and closed at night. Therefore, going hand-in-hand with the sun and the moon. This trait has frequently been mentioned in literature, most often by Shakespeare. Marigolds are also symbolic of passion and creativity, two aspects which perfectly describe Ginny and Luna together. Ginny's passionate and fiery nature and Luna's creative outlook on the world around her. The OP is gorgeous btw :thud: I kinda like the fact that Luna was introduced in book 5, she was a required newness, you know? But I like it that Ginny/Luna friendship started earlier than book 5, even though Luna was not introduced. It's a shame that their friendship is completely ignored in the movies. Hope DH2 will do some justice for our Marigolds. |
It is sad that their friendship wasn't explored so much (since a primary friendship was the main story of the book) though I don't mind it that much. It's enough for me to know these two are friends and it's just up to everyone's imagination how they become to be.
