I don't know how/when I started shipping it. I liked Harry and Ginny at first, but then once it became canon its appeal kind of started to fade a little for me. I think I've always loved the idea of D/G, just because the possibilities were endless, and the two seemed like such opposites that it would work deliciously.

I think when movie!COS came out and I saw the Flourish&Blotts scene, i was like "that would work".

It started in HBP for me. I think it was through a combo of Harry noticing Ginny and him wondering what Draco was up to that I ended up thinking Draco and Ginny would be the ones to make an interesting couple. I think it would be very equal with them, they'd be able to challenge each other and grow.

And then to see them be together despite their Hogwarts houses and their families being at odds would make it even more exciting and powerful.

Wow, we've finally reached a new thread

The art is so cute. I don't ship D/G per say, but I like reading good fanfiction about them. I think they have too many obstacles in canon too actually be viable so when fanfic works on that angle and tries to make them a viable couple, I enjoy it.

Interesting POV. I always thought these two are ill-fated to be together, the couple that could never be. And so why not right?

Zefiro: LMAO!

There's also the awkard scene from the Halfblood scene in the train, where Pansy asks curiously to Draco what he does think about Ginny Weasley being beautiful.
And he doesn't answer her

I've been thinking about it last night and the way their characters are drawn in canon really makes it difficult for them to get together. Which I think is the reason a lot of fanfic writers take a lot of liberties when writing about them.

Actually I think their characters could work, because they're the perfect balance of similar and opposites. But it's the OBSTACLES (families, social class, Death Eaters, etc.) that would never let them be, and what makes the ship even more appealing IMO. I still believe that if there was a really minor change in circumstances in the books, D/G could've happened.

I agree with you up to Book6. My problem with them getting together in canon is how Draco is written in Book 7. He's such a sniveling little coward there.

Linds, of course! Popping in an out every now and then. Hee!

This was on page two again??

To be honest me too.Up until book 6 we don't know with who Ginny will end up with, except few references in book 5,but I read them in a different way from friendship later.

And then she could have hexed him out of his cowardice, only intriguing him more to her.

I actually meant that if, say, it was Lucius who was the spy for the Order rather than Snape- then D/G would've had a great chance of happening

And that's exactly the kind of thing Draco needs. Things like that are what make me believe DG would go so well together.

I remember I wasn't waiting for D/G to happen anymore, but I was really really disappointed in Draco.I hoped he was going to redeem himself in the last book, and we got really nothing.

^ That's why, like Sonal, I don't ship them in canon. But I have really enjoyed some D/G fanfics, RfA of course being the main one, and a few by Sarea Okelani as well. They can be a fun fanon ship.

Yep. Mostly, I don't like Draco and don't find him appealing but I can see Ginny whipping him up to be a nice person
