Brunette, bushy-haired and formerly bucktoothed, Hermione was at first a bossy know-it-all who irritated Ron and Harry tremendously, that is until a shared traumatic experience with a troll. After that, she became an appreciated and vital part of "the trio". Though often referred to as "the brain" of the outfit, she is also "the glue" that holds the three of them together (especially when Ron and Harry fight)
Hermione was born to muggle parents who happened to be both dentists, oblivious to the excistence of the wizarding world until the arrival of her letter from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. But her muggle upbringing did not hinder her from being the top of her class, knowing charms above her level, and casting jinxes that even highly trained witches can't counter.

As the best student Hogwarts has seen for many a year, she can be uptight about rules and school work, she often chastised Harry and Ron's constant and often careless rule-breaking. But although she has "loosened up" a great deal in recent years, she has kept a good head on her shoulders. Now, she doesn't hessitate to "bend" a few rules if she knows it's necessary for a good cause. She has also developed a social conscience. During her fourth year she makes great humanitarian efforts towards house elf liberation.



The years have been kind to her as well. Though oftentimes dismissed by Ron and Harry as "one of the boys" by her fourth year, she has proven that she is indeed a pretty GIRL,



catching the attention of famous international Quidditch superstar, Triwizard champion and hero of the Quidditch World Cup, Viktor Krum.

Ms. Emma Charlotte Duerre Watson's first foray into the world of professional acting came at the tender age of 10, when she made her superb debut in Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone, though her natural ability has been evident since an early age with highly praised performances in several school productions.

Inspite of her inexperience as a professional actor and the fact that it's often said she's "too cute" to play the "supposedly" plain Hermione, Emma portrayed her adorably, making it possible for us all to see a litle of ourselves in her character, and earning rave reviews from critics and fans alike.

TRIVIA: Although she played the part of bosy know-it-all quite effectively onscreen, in real life, Emma is a bit shy.

1. What does your Hermione look like? (Overlooking JKR's description and Emma's appearance. If there are any differences, how does your Hermione appear?)

1. My Hermione has long, brown bushy hair and lots of freckles. Pretty much the same as the films.

2. I'm pretty sure that she will get more and more involved with the Order and its attempts to defeat Voldemort. I'm not too sure about anything else.

Well I can't help but picture Emma because I saw the movies before I read the books...but to dry and go for what the books tell me:

My Hermione has sort of soft curly hair, yes it is a bit bushy but not like Scary spice bushy...Her eyes aren't just a plain brown...they're a very light brown, which gets highlighted when the sun or a light hits them. And they sparkle with knowledge

I'd like to think she kind of bits her thumb nails when she's thinking about something, apart from her bottom lip of course. The bangs of her hair sometimes get in the way of her eyes, so they've kinda grown out a little and they start parting naturally in the middle. So all she has to do is blow out of the corner of her mouth to push them out of the way.

Everything else is Emma.

As for character development...perhaps a catfight with Cho But I can really see her doing something that nobody would be prepared for. She can surprise us like that.

I'm surprised no one posted the info JK posted on her website about Hermione. Here's a few things:

- Hermione's wand is made up of vine and dragon heartstring
- Hermione was nearly 12 when she started hogwarts <--- I'm still not to sure about this one. In PoA Dumbledore refers to both Harry and Hermione as two thriteen year olds towards the end of the term. If Hermione was nearly twelve when she started Hogwarts that would put her a year old than Harry, making her 14, not 13 at the time.

Feh, maybe JK stumbled a bit on that one.

1. My Hermione looks much like Emma... although a bit plainer I suppose. Emma really is growing up to be quite beautiful, and the Hermione in the books is a tad more bookish, and plain. But I can't invision anyone else pulling off her character.

2. Aside from beginning her relationship with everyone's favorite redhead, I see Hermione becoming a little less high strung. I see her loosening up, and I hope it progresses as she grows up... although I doubt she'll every lose her usual anxiousness because she IS in line to become Head Girl.

Thanks for posting the site info. Yeah...I think that's a fumble. If they're both 13 at the end of the term, and Hermione's birthday is Sept. 19...then, actually, she would have been ten, going on eleven, when she started at Hogwarts. I like that. I love how she's so little and yet so powerful, MWAHAHA.

Another JKR fumble is her explaining that Ron saying in book 5 that prefects can't take points is just Ron being Ron and not knowing. In book 1, Percy takes points, and in book 5, when Ron says prefects can't take points, Draco, Ernie, and and the all-knowing Hermione all agree with him. I think JKR just messed up and then forgot.

1. I read the books first...and pretty much pay attention only to the books. Except when it comes to Hermione's description; I kinda missed it the first time around and then got stuck on my image. She has straight, kind of stringy, single-length medium blonde hair that goes past her shoulders--and often gets in her eyes--and round, bright blue eyes with long lashes. She has a heart shaped face that's lost it's baby fat over the years (the appearances of these characters evolve outside of my control with every progressive book). She has a small, kind of pointed nose, small mouth, and a heart shaped face. She's basically pretty pale, with slight peachy tones. She has overall a delicate, feminine look, but, considering she's surrounded by idiots, often drives her to raise her left eyebrow or knit her brows in a "wtf?!" expression. When she's not looking like she's surrounded by idiots, she has a very intent face that involves the slightest narrowing of her eyes, and her blank expression, which, as she has a small mouth and round eyes, is quite cute. She's very short, and very thin, and...seeing as she's nearly 16, it means something to say, fairly flat. She's quite partial to sweaters/sweatshirts and the color navy blue, and--this having nothing to do with her appearance--has a potty mouth, which contrasts sharply with her small voice.

2. I want something major to happen to HERMIONE over the course of these books. Something that effects her directly which, through her, ends up furthering the plot. Like...maybe her parents die at the hands of the Death Eaters. I wish her no unhappiness, but they seem like such easy targets. And it would really give a chance to see Hermione have a big emotional role, whereas up till now she's been the advisor who gets no thanks or the girl who's left to clean up after the boys. I also would like to see her be the one to snap at Harry about the absolute @sshole he is being; go on, girl, point out his logical fallacies, call him names, I'm right there with you! And it's about time she demanded respect from that boy. Both of them, really, but at least Ron does her the favor of treating her like a person worth getting into conversations with. Harry only goes to her when he's desperate and then fails to be as grateful for her as he should. I want something to occur that brings about in him an understanding that she's THERE. Also, that quote..."Harry needs Hermione badly;" I want to see what plot point drives that comment, and I want to see him respect her as a result of whatever it is. Basically, I want Hermione to turn out to have a major role in the turn of events in this epic.

And, as a side-note, a hook-up with Ron wouldn't be bad. They definitely could have a lot to offer each other. She could get him on track; he could lighten her up a bit. I want her to have fun. She deserves it.

1. Before I saw the movies, which was only about 2 or 3 days, i saw hermione as having longer brown hair. she wasn't as pretty as emma but she was still pretty. now i won't even try picturing anything else besides emma as hermione, she'll always be hermione to me.
2. i want her to be head girl, which she will obviously be at this, and i just want to see her side by side with harry, helping him get ready for his huge showdown with voldemort and the other fights that'll come. i'm showing my ship a little bit here...besides the avi.
