At the end of the first film, the powerful Dark wizard Gellert Grindelwald (Depp) was captured by MACUSA
(Magical Congress of the United States of America), with the help of Newt Scamander (Redmayne).
But, making good on his threat, Grindelwald escaped custody and has set about gathering followers, most
unsuspecting of his true agenda: to raise pure-blood wizards up to rule over all non-magical beings.
In an effort to thwart Grindelwald’s plans, Albus Dumbledore (Law) enlists his former student Newt Scamander,
who agrees to help, unaware of the dangers that lie ahead. Lines are drawn as love and loyalty are tested, even
among the truest friends and family, in an increasingly divided wizarding world.

RELEASE DATE (of first movie): November 18, 2016
RELEASE DATE (of second movie): November 16, 2018

What we know (so far):

Eddie Redmayne and Katherine Waterston have been cast as the two leads.

It's based on Rowling's book of the same name.

It will be a total of five movies.

The screenplay is being written by J.K. Rowling, produced by Steve Kloves & David Heyman, and directed by David Yates.

It's neither a prequel nor a sequel to Harry Potter so it won't star any familiar wizards.

1, 2 and 3 will hit cinema screens in 2016, 2018 and 2020, respectively.

It's being filmed in the UK.

Steph is right, Petra. That's Leta Lestrange. She was already mentioned in part 1 during that Queenie & Newt talk inside his suitcase.

Also, did you guys notice that it's only Dumbledore, Newt & Grindelwald with wands. That must mean something right?

Looks like it. But I wonder why Paris? What's up there? And obviously Grindelwald has escaped MACUSA if he's spotted at Paris.
