Beatles References in Everyday life, TV, Movies, Songs etc.
I know I've seen this stuff on sites before but I thought it would make an interesting thread topic.
The Simpsons have 100s of Beatles references. Like when Homer reminisces about being in the Bee Sharps. George Harrison is in that episode, Barney becomes involved with a Japanese artist, they have a rooftop concert. The whole episode is a parody of The Beatles careers. I thought I'd use that as a starting point but if there's anything you see walking around, listening to a song, watching TV or a movie, talk about it here __________________

There was an episode in The Simpsons (Lisa The Vegetarian) with Paul & Linda, and another episode was about Ringo and his portrait, drawn by Marge. And there's a lot more!

Mermaid, thanks for listing that site. I haven't watched the Simpsons in years and clearly have missed out on some neat Beatle parodies. I read everything the site listed for each season, and they've done some cool stuff.

Great thread!
Gilmore Girls has a lot of Beatle references. Buffy had an episode called the Yoko Factor. Yoko was on an episode of Mad About You. __________________

Yes! I remember the Yoko Factor.
And on the X-Files they were translating something from Aramaic and it said "I am the walrus goo goo g'joob" or something like that __________________

Cool thread idea Andrea!
Yep, on Gilmore girls there are some Beatles references. Pretty funny actually. (Just in case: the link will bring you to a site that specializes in music played in Gilmore girls). Hey, I remeber the episode where Yoko was on "Mad About You"! So funny! |

I know the movie Vanilla Sky had a Beatle mention in it about George. The movie Michael with John Travolta has a line that about the Beatles too. [ 07-24-2003: Message edited steffieweffie ] __________________

Oh yeah! In Michael they sang All You Need Is Love in the car. That was so cool. It always makes me like scream whenever there's a Beatles reference

There is a line in the movie "michael" where John Travolta says "well, as John and Paul said, "all you need is love". Then someone asks "the apostles?" and John replies "no, The Beatles".
Also, I am embarrassed to say that I know The Powerpuff girls has an episode where they spoof The Beatles rise to fame. [ 07-25-2003: Message edited Wallflower ] [ 07-25-2003: Message edited Wallflower ] __________________

Omigosh...I love the Powerpuff girls. They're so cute!
Oh, in a magazine today I saw a picture of some band and they had fully ripped off the Butcher cover photo session. Only there was no meat, just dolls. I was like "Mum, they fully ripped off The Beatles!" __________________

For people in Ontario, if you get TVO, you should get TVOKids and there's a 5 minute show called Bod Squad, which promotes healthy eating. One episode they did a spoof on the Beatles and called them the Eatles and it was kind of funny. "All You Need is Love" became "All you Need is Food" or something like that. It was cool.

As you guys said, there are Beatles refrences on Gilmore Girls (John's Oh My Love is on the soundtrack ), like:
RORY: How's it going? LORELAI: I hate these books, hate them. RORY: Now now. LORELAI: Agh! See that? They're trying to escape – they hate me, too. RORY: Your books don't hate you. LORELAI: Ugh, Rory, my brain is full. It has reached capacity. It's Shea Stadium when the Beatles played. It’s cramped and girls are screaming and I think George is fighting with Ringo. RORY: You have a very active head. Oh, and: SOOKIE: Huh? LORELAI: Sookie, you’ve gotta be kidding. SOOKIE: What? LORELAI: You cannot walk down the aisle to that. SOOKIE: Why? LORELAI: It’s depressing. SOOKIE: It’s Ella. LORELAI: It’s morbid. SOOKIE: It’s a classic song. LORELAI: A classic song with lyrics about a woman who can’t make her relationship work, whose life is filled with emptiness and regret and pain. SOOKIE: Oh, who listens to the lyrics? LORELAI: Anybody not hanging out with Annie Sullivan by the water pump. RORY: What are these? SOOKIE: Oh, those are some alternative songs, but I really like this one the best. LORELAI: Alternative songs, good. Let’s see. Hey Jude. SOOKIE: Paul wrote it for Julian to cheer him up! Oh, and there's this Powerpuff Girls episode! Meet the Beat Alls. Hilarious!
