I just googled Marti and one of the first things to come up was 'Marti Noxon ruined Buffy' :look:

Maybe I've just accepted it but it fits the SL.

Spike was trying to connect to Buffy the only way he knew how and lost control.

There is no excuse for the AR that's just the way it happened.

Spike was horrified when he realized what he was doing and went to fight for a soul.

I've accepted it too, as Spike's most extreme catalyst...but deep down I still wish it had been something else, you know.

I almost hate how people react to the AR more than the AR itself.

People seem to forget he was a souless vampire.

Like he and Angelus were incapable of such horrendous acts.

There are fans that write in fic that rape wasn't something Spike would do.

Yeah right!

Even the orig. script of BY has Spike mentioned he raped.

We know Angelus raped too.

The important thing to me is that one Spike didn't actually rape Buffy and two he realized because of it that he realized he didn't want to be a monster anymore and fought for his soul.

I wish there was something else too.

True.

There is no proof on the show that rape was something he did.

Everything in the BY script Joss rewrote.

I always thought Spike was telling the truth when he was trying to get Buffy to kill him.

There are others that say he wasn't.

Ironic the narrative other than the AR with Buffy shows no onscreen proof and only that one scene Season 7 alludes to rape.

Angelus is openly known for loving to rape women though.

Agree with everything.

Then there are fans that think it was all OOC.

Spike wanted her to love him back desperately in the moment.

That was what it was all about. We know Spike never had been truly loved except by his mother.

I'm trying to stay awake but eyes closing. Losing battle.

FF goes down at 4am my time and that's about 12 min.:lol:

I completely agree with everything. It's a hard scene to watch, but he was so desperate in that moment that I don't think he realized what he was doing until it was too late. So for the first time we got to see a vampire feel so remorseful that he fought for his soul.
