WDT, Round 10: A Movie Out Of Your Favourite Book, Would Kathie Get A Part In It?

 Weekly Discussion Topic, Round 10

Sorry for the delay again, but real life is very demanding at the moment. So I finally came up with a new discussion topic - this week it's:

If they made a movie out of your favourite book, would Kathie get a part in it?

That naturally raises more questions as in - what is your favourite book and which part would she get. Or in general, which book have you read lately where you can see her playing a role its picturisation.

Let's discuss!

Nice topic Nikki!

I just read a book called P.S. I Love You by Cecilia Ahern. Its about a young woman in her twenties called Holly, whose husband, Gerry, has just died of a brain tumour & is finding the moving-on process extremely difficult. She discovers then that Gerry has left her 12 letters, one of which is to be opened at the start of every month over the year after his death, each note giving Holly something to focus on & remember her beloved husband by with each note ended with P.S. I Love You.

This book reminded me of the Isabel/Alex grieving process after Alex died. which IMO, was Katherine at her peak during Roswell & I think Katie would play the leading role of Holly in this book really well!

And I just heard that the book is going to be made into a movie, so....

I'd recommend this book to anyone & everyone! It's touching & sooo realistic

Great topic!

I'd love to see her in any book I've liked, if there's any character remotely suitable. Preferably a happier role though (I am still extremely bitter over the lack of happiness on Roswell).

Now my mind is going blank on examples of the many books that should be made into movies starring Katherine... probably the Tylenol III. Ack. I'll try to remember.

Lately I've had to mostly read non-fiction, for school, less cinematic potential. Although there are a lot of interesting stories surrounding the Crusades, which involve a surprising number of Isabels!

I also loved the book version of "A Walk To Remember" & I know they made a movie of it with Mandy Moore a few yearts ago, but I think Katie would be great in a less glamourous & gritty role like that.

My favourite novel is The Princess Bride by William Goldman. So unfortunately they already did a movie version of my favourite book - and a very good one. However, Kathie would also be a wonderful Buttercup. She's able to pull off the pretty & graceful princess and the snarky and strong woman. I loved her in Prince Valiant. Long hair would be a must though.

Katie does play the princess role to perfection! And she has already starred in one book/movie - Wuthering Heights!

Wuthering Heights would also be one of my favourite novels but I haven't seen the MTV movie version yet. Don't know if we'll ever get to see it... MTVGermany tends to import only the crappy US-MTV productions. Must be cheaper or something.

I'd cast her for sci-fi/fairy tale/mystical/historical roles. With Kathie you don't have to worry that she won't stand out in the middle of special effects, wacky costumes or a fight scene. The camera loves her.

Note to self: Read more books.

I know how you feel! When you actually try to list the books you've read, you can't remember half of them & feel like a idiot!

I do read, I swear!

Mone, you are totally right! Katie is definitely one of a rather small number of actors who can play ANY role effectively! It's just a pity she doesn't get as much credit as she deserves...

Katherine might be too grown up for this particular role but i think she would have kicked ass in it. There is a book called The Pact about a girl and boy who grow up best friends. The girl was molested when she was little but never told and when in high school begins dating her best guy bud but can never make that transaction from brother type to boyfriend type ends up really confused, pregnant and committing suicide. a little dark i know but i think she conveys such powerful emtions and would have made it interesting. In a comedic rol there's a book called See Jane Date that so adorable cute and since Katie is adorably cut i think it would work but i think it was already made into a movie, but those are my choices.

I think Katie's true talents have not yet been fully seen. She is waiting for that one major part that is really going to thrust her into the limelight & give her the attention & praise that she truly deserves. Her situation always reminded me of Charlize Theron's & since Charlize got the leading role in "Monster", she has won an Oscar & is now internationally recognised. I just hope Katie gets that one big role too Like Charlize did, so that she gets her big break.

I'm not sure, my favourite at the moment is already a film - Beloved - Toni Morrison, or there is The Lovely Bones - Alice Seebold, and I don't think the books I'm reading at the moment would work I'm reading - Cold Mountain, Perfume (French Author) and the Diving Bell and the Butterfly, which is apparently being made into a film with Johnny Depp.

maybe I'm going to date myself here, but the roll of Phobie in the book Arundle by Kenneth Rogers comes to mind. It is a really powerful roll.

Take care
